Joseph A. Woodell

Joseph A. Woodell, 26, Woodstock, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. He was born Jan.19, 1986, to Lawrence and Sarah (Saathoff) Woodell. He was a member of the McHenry County Church of Religious Science, Cary. He enjoyed being outdoors, working on computers and loved animals. Survivors include his parents; four sisters, Debbie Woodell, Tracey Woodell, Laurei Woodell and Kathy Woodell; four brothers, Larry Woodell, Eric (Pamela) Saathoff, Mathew (Melissa) Brock and Nathan Woodell (his twin); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Preston Brock. Visitation was held May 31 at  Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. The funeral service was June 1 at the funeral home. Interment was private.

Carl C. Ohlrich

Carl C. Ohlrich, 78, Woodstock, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock. He was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Woodstock, to Wilbert C. and Faye (Gates) Ohlrich. On Oct. 19, 1957, he married Marilyn Smith in Johnsburg. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. He worked as a masonry contractor for many years, eventually becoming a building inspector for McHenry County. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golfing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Kline Dean Irwin

  Kline Dean Irwin, 90, Lake of the Woods, Bremen, Ind., died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Center, Plymouth, Ind. He was born April 27, 1922, in Argos, Ind., to Elmer and Iva (Middleton) Irwin. On Sept. 28, 1946, he married Eloise P. Pearson in Chicago He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August 1941 and served in World War II. He received a Purple Heart  in December 1948 and was discharged in September1945. He worked as a machinist for many years at Bremen Bearing and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and tinkering with motors. Nancy B. Fallaw

  Nancy B. Fallaw, 73, Wonder Lake, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Hospice of Northeastern Illinois-Woodstock. She was born Nov. 15, 1938, in Chicago, to Edward and Maree (Kaufmann) Hogan. She was a longtime resident of Wonder Lake, an advocate of Right to Life and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include two daughters, Karen (George) Cadotte and Kelly ‘Kathryn’ Sweeting; four sons, Patrick (Joyce) Fallaw, Paul (Lee) Fallaw, Peter Fallaw and Joseph (Kendra) Fallaw; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Patrick C. Fallaw, Chicago Fire Department; and her parents. The visitation was May 25 at Justen’s Wonder Lake Funeral

Stephen Hrncar

  Stephen Hrncar, 81, of Nicholasville, Ky., formerly of Woodstock, died May 19, 2012, at his home. He was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Cicero,  to Stephen Hrncar and Katarina Vrlak.  He married Margaret Solms Oct. 26, 1957. Hrncar was a veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Denise Hrncar and Diana (Steve) Raney; two sons, Stephen (Carol) Hrncar and Michael Hrncar; five grandchildren, Katrina (Tony) Arizzi, Stephanie Cooley, Joshua Farrell and partner Terry Teele, Abigail (Eric) Guzman and Amber Raney; and two great-grandchildren, Carolin Arizzi and Dominic Arizzi. Gerald Scharnau

  Gerald (Jerry) Walter Scharnau, 81, San Antonio, died May 19, 2012.  He was born June 16, 1930, to Walter and Ruth Scharnau, longtime residents of Woodstock. He attended Illinois State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Trinity University.  He lived in San Antonio, where he taught in the Harlandale Independent School District for 40 years. Survivors include his three children, LaVern M. (Carolyn) Thomas, Glenda R. (Frank) McDonald, and Sue (Bill) Ward;  a brother, Ralph (Ruth) Scharnau; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two nephews; one niece; four great-nephews; and two great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 53 years, Arlyne, in 2007.    Visitation and the funeral arrangements were made

Mary Margaret Vohs

  Mary Margaret Vohs, 71, Woodstock, died Monday, May 21, 2012, at Mercy Harvard Hospital. She was born March 22, 1941, in East Troy, Wis., to Chester Charles and Hattie Agnes (Drews) Marzahl. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Union and worked as the emergency room coordinator at Woodstock Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years She loved playing cards, bingo, cooking and baking, bird-watching and garage sales. Her first love was her family. Survivors include three sons, Matthew (Patti) Vohs, Warren (Somporn) Vohs and Ronald (Kelly) Vohs; three daughters, Kelly (Michael) Donovan, Kathy (Doug) Parker and Cassandra (Philip) Vohs-Demann;  five grandchildren, Lindsay (Sean) Keisman, Jordan Parker, Abigail Vohs, Bradley Vohs and Matthew Vohs; a soon-to-be

Jeanne E. Maxwell

  Jeanne E. Maxwell, 89, died Tuesday, May 1, 2012, in Longmont, Colo. She was a longtime Woodstock resident and worked at the court house in the clerk and recorder’s office for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Larson and Kathy (Randy) Torgerson; four grandchildren, Cindy (Albert Koscheski) Larson, Debby Langley (fiance Todd Ray), Bobbie (John) London and Jeff (Michelle) Torgerson; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Robert Sahs, Robert Schauer and Ralph Maxwell; a brother, Robert Grammer; a sister, Mary Lou Mishler; and a son-in-law, Gayle Larson. Judith Karen (Ziller) Kaiser

  Judith Karen (Ziller) Kaiser, 70, Woodstock, died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the  Inpatient Hospice Unit of Centegra Specialty Hospital-Woodstock. She was born Feb. 6, 1942, in Kankakee, to Charles and Martha (Hoskins) Ziller. She and her husband lived on a grain and dairy farm near Woodstock. Survivors include her husband, James A. Kaiser; five sons, Jeffrey Kaiser, Woodstock, Barry (Debbie) Kaiser, McHenry, David Kaiser, Mt. Prospect, Kevin (Kim) Kaiser, Capron, and Jerald Kaiser, Woodstock; eight grandchildren; seven brothers, Roger Ziller, Huntley, Bert Ziller, Wheatland, Wyo., Ronnie Ziller, Genoa, Paul Ziller, Huntley, Keith Ziller, Garden Prairie, Daniel Ziller, Huntley, and Larry Ziller, Amarillo, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Marion Mikkelsen Lewis

  Marion Mikkelsen Lewis, 103, Woodstock, died May 15, 2012, at Hearthstone Manor.  She was born Oct. 16, 1908, in Woodstock, to Jens and Inger Marie (Jensen) Mikkelsen.  A lifelong resident of Woodstock, she graduated from Woodstock High School in 1927.  On July 14, 1990, she married Robert F. Lewis Sr.  She was employed at Bohn’s Ace Hardware as secretary and bookkeeper for 34 years, retiring in 1971. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church, Woodstock.  She served 18 years as the secretary for the Ruth Service Guild of the church.
