Kline Dean Irwin

 

Kline Dean Irwin, 90, Lake of the Woods, Bremen, Ind., died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Center, Plymouth, Ind.

He was born April 27, 1922, in Argos, Ind., to Elmer and Iva (Middleton) Irwin.

On Sept. 28, 1946, he married Eloise P. Pearson in Chicago

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August 1941 and served in World War II. He received a Purple Heart  in December 1948 and was discharged in September1945.

He worked as a machinist for many years at Bremen Bearing and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and tinkering with motors.

He was a member of Plymouth Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1162, American Legion Post 27, Disabled American Veterans, Moose Lodge and the USS Wasp Stinger Club. He never missed a Wasp reunion.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Plymouth.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela K. (Jerry), Freemont, Calif., and Lizabeth E. (Mike), Flint, Mich.; two grandsons, William and Brad Boyer; a brother, Harold Irwin, Woodstock; and a niece, Nancy Irwin, both of Woodstock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a granddaughter, Lyndsey Rodriguez; and a nephew, Richard Irwin.

Visitation was held May 17 at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth.

The funeral was May 18 at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Marhanka officiating.

Interment with military honors was May 18 at New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
