Marion Mikkelsen Lewis

 

Marion Mikkelsen Lewis, 103, Woodstock, died May 15, 2012, at Hearthstone Manor. 

She was born Oct. 16, 1908, in Woodstock, to Jens and Inger Marie (Jensen) Mikkelsen. 

A lifelong resident of Woodstock, she graduated from Woodstock High School in 1927. 

On July 14, 1990, she married Robert F. Lewis Sr. 

She was employed at Bohn’s Ace Hardware as secretary and bookkeeper for 34 years, retiring in 1971. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church, Woodstock. 

She served 18 years as the secretary for the Ruth Service Guild of the church. She enjoyed cooking and made excellent desserts. 

Survivors include a nephew, Richard (Patricia)Nelson, Woodstock; a stepdaughter Jeannine Siefers, Wilson, Kan.; a stepson Robert Lewis Jr. (Elaine), Las Vegas, Nev.;  two grandnieces, Linda (James) Jahn, Wonder Lake, and Cindy (Pete) Lieser, Marseilles; a grand nephew, David (Debbie) Nelson, Harvest, Ala.;  four great-grandnieces Katey Nelson, Harvest, Kristen Jahn, Whitewater, Wis., Carlee and Emma Lieser, Marseilles; and two great- grandnephews Jason Jahn, Schaumburg, and Jens (Elyssa) Nelson, Toney, Ala.; and many cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1996; a brother, Vernon Mikkelsen; two sisters, Gladys Nelson Hrabak and Jeannette Marie Mikkelsen; and a nephew,  Kenneth Nelson. 

A memorial gathering was held May 21 at the First Presbyterian Church, Woodstock, IL 60098. The Rev. Paul Nelson officiated.

Interment was held privately in Oakland Cemetery.
