Joan H. Mansfield

Joan H. Mansfield, 80, Woodstock, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at her home. She was born Nov. 2, 1931, in Woodstock to Jacob and Grace (Eddy) Heisler.   On Nov. 24, 1951, she married William Mansfield in Greenwood. She was a 1949 graduate of Woodstock High School and was Miss Woodstock in 1950. She attended the University of Illinois.  She was a lifelong Woodstock city volunteer, and served on numerous committees, and was a Woodstock City Council member for 18 years. She also was the office manager for Tidy Rugs, a Cub Scout leader, a past commander of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, a columnist for The Woodstock Independent and the Woodstock BPW Woman of the Year in 1996. Wilma Moore

Wilma Moore, 75, Woodstock, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at Florida Hospital Celebration Health, Celebration, Fla. She was born May 29, 1937, in Womack, Neb., to Oluf H. and Margaret N. (Nestor) Knudsen.   On Oct. 19, 1957, she married Odis H. Moore. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, as well as reading, gardening, watching wildlife and camping.   Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Lori (James) Koch and Margene (Ted) Poulos; two sons, Michael Moore and Richard (Wendy) Moore; nine grandchildren, Jaime Koch, Courtney (Adam) Lockinger, Jeremy (Jessica) Koch, Heather Poulos, Nicholas Poulos, Alex Moore, Brittany Moore, Dawn Moore and Richard Moore; nine great-grandchildren, C’Anna Densen, Caitlyn Talley, Jayden

Deborah Schoepke

Deborah Schoepke, 75, Woodstock, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois Inpatient Unit in Woodstock. She was born Oct. 24, 1936, in Woodstock, to Howard and Lucile (Stratton) Courier. On Feb. 26, 1961, she married William Schoepke.  She was a lifelong resident of Woodstock and member of First United Methodist Church, Woodstock. She was active in church fund-raising events and became famous for her coffee cakes. She worked as a receptionist and coordinator of the Fun Timers at the State Bank of Woodstock.  She was co-founder of the Double Dilemma Twins Club, a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxillary Coners fundraising group and was actively involved in helping her husband at Tidy Carpets,

Irma W. Ackmann

Irma W. Ackmann, 99, died Saturday, June 2, 2012.  She was born April 3, 1913. On Nov. 7,1936, she married Harold Ackmann, a Huntley resident. Since Nov. 15, 1987, she had been a resident of Hearthstone Communities, Woodstock, after moving from Bay Village, Ohio.  Irma was a member of Bethesda-on-the-Bay Lutheran Church, Bay Village.  Survivors include a son, Lawrence (Nina) North Kingstown, R.I.; a sister-in-law, Lucille Wagner, Woodstock; a brother-in-law, Lowell (Dorothy) Ackmann, Barrington; and several nephews and nieces.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jan. 29, 1985. At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral. Burial will be in Hampshire Center Cemetery, Hampshire.  Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the American Cancer

Mary Jane O'Neil

Mary Jane O’Neil, 67, Wonder Lake, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at her home. She was born Feb. 25, 1945, in Shoemaker, Calif., to Leslie V. and Mary Cecelia (Maestas) Lahmon.  On Aug. 6, 1983, she married Charles M. O’Neil in Wonder Lake. A resident of Schaumburg for 12 years, Mary had lived in Wonder Lake for the past 36 years. She was employed as a sales clerk at Farm & Fleet in Woodstock for seven years. She also worked in the medical records department at Mercy Medical in Barrington for seven years. Mary loved organizing parties and get-togethers with family and friends, especially on holidays. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed rides in the country with her husband

Candace Ann McNulty

Candace Ann McNulty, 61, Woodstock, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at her home. She was born May 1, 1951, in Chicago to Raymond and Bernice (Somers) Cook.   On October 4, 1969, she married James Patrick “Pat” McNulty.  She overcame many challenges during her life, including a victory over breast cancer in 2010.  She was a tireless worker and provider for her family. Her career included extensive work as a medical billing specialist. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and taking trips to Ireland.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was considered “Fifth Sister” to her cousins, Theresa, Catherine, Rosemary and Patricia Scott. Survivors include three sons, Mark (Alexa) McNulty, Lake Villa, Michael

Carolyn L. Havens

Carolyn L. Havens, 85, Woodstock, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at Centegra Hospital – Woodstock. She was born Jan. 2, 1927, to Clyde and Caroline (Krettner) Ohlsen.   On May 11, 1946, she married Charles H. Havens in Chicago.  She was a teller with the State Bank of Woodstock on the Square for more than 21 years. Survivors include two daughters, Cathy (Bob) Westman and Rhonda (John) Munch; four grandchildren, Brent (Abby) Westman, Bryan Westman, Elizabeth Munch and Courtney (Nathan) Rhae; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Will, Brady and Charlie. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2006; and two sisters. The funeral service and visitation were June 8 at the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock,

Karen A. Koreba

Karen A. Koreba, 64, Wonder Lake, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012. She was born Nov. 27, 1947, in Alexandria, Va. She moved to Charlotte, N.C. as an infant and lived there until 1967, when she moved to Chicago to attend training to become a stewardess with United Airlines. She was employed with United Airlines until her retirement in 2000. On Oct. 31, 1970, she married Kenneth C. Koreba in Chicago.  They moved to Wonder Lake in 1976 and, since 2004, also has spent time at their house in St. James, N.C. Survivors include her husband of 42 years; a daughter, Keni (Matthew) Rienks, Woodstock; two grandchildren, Eden and Evan Rienks; two brothers, Thane Anderson and Andy (Susan) Anderson, both of

Aspenna V. Bowe

Aspenna V. Bowe, 92, Woodstock, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock. She was born Feb. 28, 1920, in New Holstein, Wis. On June 1, 1941, she married Arthur Bowe in Chilton, Wis. She was a member of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, Woodstock, and the Woodstock Moose Lodge. She was an avid bingo player and loved to do crossword puzzles. Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Sue) Bowe and Dick (Sandy) Bowe; a daughter, Janice (Robin) Malsberry; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sharon Wilson; two sisters; and one brother. The visitation and funeral service were June 2 at McHenry County Memorial Park Mausoleum, Woodstock.

Gloria G. Grover

Gloria G. Grover, 76, Woodstock, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock. She was born July 11, 1935, in Dundee, to John and Louise (Boncosky) Grace. On May 28, 1955, she married Charles “Bud” Grover in Dundee. She worked for many years at First National Bank of Woodstock and the law offices of Caldwell-Berner-Caldwell. She loved sports, especially college basketball, and her favorite team was the Indiana Hoosiers.  She was known as the “Queen of the NCAA Pool” every March. She loved to attend her husband’s, children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She looked forward to her trips to Las Vegas and occasional outings on the river boats.
