Ryan M. Hanson Ryan M. Hanson, 18, Woodstock, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2017. He was born Sept. 24, 1998, to Michael R. Hanson and Lori A. Carr in Barrington. He was known by his friends as “Mr. Literal,” and he was a very accomplished young man. A self-taught musician, he enjoyed playing the guitar. He loved Scouting and was a member of Wonder Lake Boy Scout Troop 456 from kindergarten until he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated eighth in his class at Woodstock North High School in 2017 where he earned high honors all four years. Virginia Mae Twichell

Virginia Mae Twichell, 96, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, at Hearthstone Manor, Woodstock. She was born Sept. 16, 1921, to Clarence and Florence (Yates) Killian in Aurora. She resided in Montgomery until her marriage to Robert Jacobson, Evanston, Sept. 1, 1945, and eventually they moved to Woodstock. Her life was dedicated to helping others. She was employed by Woodstock Christian Care for more than 30 years, first in the Woodstock Children’s Home and then as assistant administrator at Sunset Manor. In retirement, she and Robert moved to Light and Life Free Methodist Park in Lakeland, Fla., where she continued to serve, volunteering in Helping Hands at the local school and managing the dining room at the park. Mary Jane Gibson

Mary Jane Gibson, 93, of Woodstock died Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at Valley Hi Nursing Home surrounded by her family. She was born March 31, 1924, to John J. and Juliett (Goodrow) Hayes in Woodstock. On Oct. 12, 1947, she married Glenn R. Gibson. Mary Jane was a graduate of St. Mary Grade School and St. Mary High School. She lived in Woodstock for many years and then settled in Kokomo, Indiana, where she lived for 40 years.  She worked for Dr. Young for 30 years.  She returned to Woodstock in 2009 and moved to Valley Hi in 2011. Dorothy C. Jagodzinski

Dorothy C. Jagodzinski, 96, of Woodstock, formerly of Lemont, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Hearthstone Manor, Woodstock. She was born April 18, 1921, to Stanley and Rose (Lukaszewski) Nickleski in Lemont. She married Sylvester Jagodzinski May 24, 1941. She was a faithful member of St. Cyril Methodius Catholic Church in Lemont until 1991, when she moved to Woodstock and became a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock. She worked as a seamstress for a company that repaired military uniforms. She also was a beautician. She enjoyed music and playing organ and piano. Survivors include: a daughter, Marcia (John) Seiler; a son, Anthony (Laurie) Jacobs; a grandson, Michael A. (Julia) Seiler; and three siblings, Genevieve White, Norbert Nickleski,

Donald F. Hasse

Donald F. Hasse, 85, of Woodstock, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry after a short illness. He was born Sept. 20, 1931, to Fred and Alvina (Salge) Hasse in Schaumburg. Don was a proud U. S. Army veteran who served his country in the Korean War. A resident of Woodstock for the past 11 years, Don formerly resided in Huntley, where he farmed more than 120 acres for many years. As well as farming, he was employed by the Huntley School District for 15 years, performing inside maintenance and driving a school bus. After “retiring,” he drove a truck for Freund International for seven years. He worked many hours performing restoration on his Farmall tractor. An avid fisherman, Don enjoyed traveling

Steve Hinner

Steve “St. Stephen” Hinner, 57, of Woodstock, died Aug. 6, 2017, after a courageous battle against melanoma. He was born and raised in Woodstock, and was happily employed by Antioch Fine Wine and Liquors for many years as the wine manager. Steve was known for his giving and kind nature, as well as a love of music, wine and his Chicago sports teams (Cubs excluded). Survivors include: his only son, Benjamin (Erin) Hinner; the loves of his life, his two grandchildren, Mason and Penny, Melbourne, Florida; a brother, Reiner (Lori) Hinner;  niece and nephew/godson Gabriela and Garret Hinner, St. Peters, Missouri; loving Tanta Anni and Uncle Willy; cousins Peter and Wally Bitschura; numerous other family members; and countless friends and

Harry T. Johnson

Harry T. Johnson, 83, of Belvidere died Tuesday Aug. 22, 2017, at Northwoods Care Center, Belvidere. He was born Oct. 23, 1936, to William Thomas and Gwendolyn (Farling) Hall. On Aug. 31, 1963, he married Eldora Ruby. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving as a carpenter on the USS Oriskany. For more than 30 years, he worked as a lineman for ComEd. He was known as a skilled handyman who could do any home projects from woodwork to electrical. He always stayed busy but loved to relax with a book, especially mystery novels. William ‘Bill’ Merrit Morefield

William “Bill” Merritt Morefield, Woodstock, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. He was born July 7, 1937,  to Clarence O. and Dorothy J. (Merritt) Morefield at Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago. He was a 1956 graduate of Monmouth High School, a graduate of the Galesburg licensed practical nurse program and a licensed nursing home administrator. He brought his young family to Woodstock in 1969 when he was hired as the administrator for Valley Hi Nursing Home for McHenry County, a position in which he proudly served for 17 years. He was then promoted as the first county administrator for McHenry County, serving in this position for seven years until his retirement in 1993. He then worked as a

Nancy J. Lagerhausen

Nancy J. Lagerhausen, 80, Hebron, formerly of Woodstock, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017. She was born Sept. 24, 1936, to Wilbur and Thelma (Ehle) Peters in Lake Geneva, Wis. On March 24, 1956, she married Walter H. “Wally” Lagerhausen in Woodstock. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock.  She loved to crochet and to collect. Her collection of porcelain dolls, Amish figures, cows and Christmas decorations cannot be compared.  A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she supported her family in every way possible. Survivors include: her children, Tom (Connie) Lagerhausen, Chandler, Ariz., Larry C. Wanda L. Stidham

Wanda L. Stidham, 68, Woodstock, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, after a six-year battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 25, 1948, in Anna, to Fred and Mildred (Miller) Stidham. She worked for the Precision Twist Drill Company, Crystal Lake, and later Gru – Cut Tool, Cary, until her retirement. Her strength and positive attitude made her an inspiration to everyone she encountered. She enjoyed traveling, photography, golf, baking, baseball and, of course, the Chicago Cubs. Survivors include her father; a brother, Larry Stidham; a sister, Judy Stidham; a nephew, Steve Stonick; a niece, Heather Charnota; and great-nieces, Tiffany Stonick and Cassandra Charnota.
