Mary Jane Gibson

Mary Jane Gibson, 93, of Woodstock died Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at Valley Hi Nursing Home surrounded by her family.

She was born March 31, 1924, to John J. and Juliett (Goodrow) Hayes in Woodstock.

On Oct. 12, 1947, she married Glenn R. Gibson.

Mary Jane was a graduate of St. Mary Grade School and St. Mary High School. She lived in Woodstock for many years and then settled in Kokomo, Indiana, where she lived for 40 years.  She worked for Dr. Young for 30 years.  She returned to Woodstock in 2009 and moved to Valley Hi in 2011.

She loved to spend time golfing alongside her husband and friends.  She dearly loved her sister’s and brother’s children and claimed them as her own.  She always remembered the special days of those she loved with a card.

Survivors include: her nieces and nephews, Diane Sheahan, Phil (Jan) Parker, Tom (Cyndi) Parker, Peter (Linda) Parker, Julie (Bud) Gende, Kriss (Jim) Liebetrau and Suzanne Hayes; great-nieces and -nephews, Kevin Sheahan, Jon Sheahan, Colleen Readel, Kurt Parker, Toby Goad, Shawn Parker, Toni Seagren, Brendan Parker, Tom Parker, Cynthi Lysne, Ryan Parker, Brett Parker, Carrie Stacy, Bart Gende, Denise Smith, T.J. Liebetrau, Andrew Liebetrau and Kate Liebetrau; and numerous great-great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Gibson; a sister, Helen Parker; a brother, Jack Hayes; niece, Mary Sue Parker; nephew, Danny Sheahan; sister-in-law, Betty Hayes; and brother-in-law, Walter Parker.

Visitation and memorial Mass were held Aug. 28 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Woodstock.

Arrangements were made by Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock.
