Virginia Mae Twichell

Virginia Mae Twichell, 96, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, at Hearthstone Manor, Woodstock.

She was born Sept. 16, 1921, to Clarence and Florence (Yates) Killian in Aurora.

She resided in Montgomery until her marriage to Robert Jacobson, Evanston, Sept. 1, 1945, and eventually they moved to Woodstock.

Her life was dedicated to helping others. She was employed by Woodstock Christian Care for more than 30 years, first in the Woodstock Children’s Home and then as assistant administrator at Sunset Manor. In retirement, she and Robert moved to Light and Life Free Methodist Park in Lakeland, Fla., where she continued to serve, volunteering in Helping Hands at the local school and managing the dining room at the park. She was a member at Woodstock Free Methodist Church.

On Sept.12, 2000, she married her longtime friend, Carlos Twichell.

Survivors include her loving daughter Patricia Jacobson; three siblings, Glenn (Fay) Killian, Paul (Jan) Killian and Marilyn Eggleston; many nieces and nephews; and many stepchildren and step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Robert and Carlos; a son, Randy Jacobson; eight siblings, Harold, Donald, Harry, Ralph, Irwin, Lucille Eggleston Woodward, Geraldine Killian and Bernadette Keeling.

A memorial gathering will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Free Methodist Church, 934 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m.
