Delmar A. Eckert

Delmar A. Eckert , 89, Woodstock, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at Centegra Hospital-Huntley. He was born June 14, 1928, to Floyd and Delcie Eckert in Woodstock. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Woodstock. For 30 years, he played the trumpet in the Woodstock City Band. He was known as a jokester with a good sense of humor. Survivors include his ex-wife Dorothy (Fischer) Eckert, and a son, Michael Eckert. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, at the First United Methodist Church, 201 W. South St., Woodstock. The celebration will begin with a gathering at 10:30 a.m., followed by a

Royce R. Osborne

Royce R. Osborne, 79, Woodstock, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at his home with his best friend and wife, Nancy, at his side. He was born Oct. 30, 1938, to Clarence and Marie (Mettler) Osborne in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On Oct. 12, 2002, he married Nancy Hiatt in Indianapolis, Ind. Their relationship spanned 21 years. He was employed by the Champion Company, Houston, Texas, for many years and retired in 2002. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, fishing, puzzling and working part-time (when the mood struck him). Joyce Elaine Judson

Joyce Elaine Judson, 82, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at Centegra-McHenry Hospital surrounded by family. She was born Sept. 21, 1935, to Lance and Elsie (Barker) Blackburn. On July 3, 1954, she married Lynn E. Judson. Survivors include her husband of 63 years; four children, David (Marianne) Judson, Lake Villa, Linda (Bruce Gispanski) Judson, LaGrange, Texas, Penny Cook, Crystal Lake, and Brenda (Pete) Gorski, Wonder Lake; grandchildren, Stephen (Maggie) Judson, Andrew (Meghan) Judson, Nathaniel (Christine) Judson, Lorelei (Kyle) Quartullo, Derek Sieg, Brian Cook, Kyle (Dawn) Cook, Eric Cook, Adam Gorski and Samantha Gorski; great-grandchildren, Davey, Rebekah, Matthew, Hannah, Aiden, Jaxson, Alexis, Ian and Rhiona; and two sisters, Lanette Perry and Bonnie Blackburn. George Orlo Meyers

George Orlo Meyers, 65, Johnsburg, died suddenly Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at his home. He was born March 31, 1952, to George Carl and Mary Ann (Brown) Meyers in Woodstock, and was the youngest of two children. Also known by “Roscoe” and “Bubba,” he was remarkably charismatic, deeply caring, had a magnetic personality and an extraordinarily generous heart. He graduated from Marian High School and  attended Robert Morris College and Rock Valley College, preparing for his career as a federal firefighter, from which he retired as a captain, an EMT and a paramedic. Salvador Arias

Salvador Arias, 77, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at Centegra Hospital. McHenry. He was born Oct. 9, 1940, to Salvador and Juliana (Aguirre) Arias in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. On June 3, 1967, he married Ana M. Laguna. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. He was the oldest of 17 family members. He was a great role model, a man of his word, living his faith by example and always lending a hand to anybody who needed it. He enjoyed gardening and being with his dogs. Lawrence ‘Larry’ T. Schnulle

Lawrence “Larry” T. Schnulle, 77, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, in Harlingen, Texas. He was born Oct. 22, 1940, to Lester and Vera Schnulle in Hartland. He worked as a highway maintenance worker with the McHenry County Division of Transportation for 35 years. He lived in Illinois for many years and Missouri as well. Upon retirement, he and his wife became winter visitors to the Harlingen area and made Harlingen their home five years ago. He was a member of Moose Lodge #1329 for more than 50 years and Elks Lodge #1043 for 35 years. He loved hunting, fishing and John Wayne movies. Edwin Harold Thurow

Edwin Harold Thurow, 70, Woodstock, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, after a valiant battle with a debilitating illness. He was born Aug. 29, 1947, to Harold and Marian (Engebretson) Thurow. He loved the outdoors and was a skilled hunter, avid fisherman, master tradesman and gifted musician. His zest for life, compassion, humor and talents will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Thomas F. Vetor

Thomas F. Vetor, 58, Woodstock, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. He was born Feb. 25, 1959, to Thomas Sr. and Bonnie (Holmes) Vetor in Woodstock. He grew up in McCullom Lake and attended McHenry schools. He was a proud past member of the Viscounts Drum & Bugle Corps in the early ‘70s. He enjoyed sports, particularly the Green Bay Packers. Survivors include his mother, Bonnie Azzaro, Woodstock; a daughter, Amy Mutungi, Chicago; a sister, Cori Hanson; two brothers, Louie Morris and Jay Morris; a longtime companion Melisa Milner; her daughter, Heidi Orr; her children, Aubrey, Caleb and Savannah; and many cousins and friends. Mary Ann Mass

Mary Ann Mass, 89, Woodstock, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born April 29, 1928, to Leo and Clara (Diedrich) Regner in Volo. On Nov. 6, 1948, she married Frank J. Mass in Volo. She and her husband had numerous business enterprises. They operated the Lamplighter Motel in Woodstock for 20 years; they built and operated the Timbers Restaurant for many years; the Colonial Motel and Restaurant, and the Rose Ann apartment complex in Elgin; and many other rental properties in and around Woodstock. She was a very loving and generous person and was dedicated to her family and her church. She was a longtime volunteer and served in many capacities at

Cynthia L. Ray

Cynthia L. Ray, 49, Woodstock, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, at JourneyCare Hospice-Woodstock, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jan. 22, 1968, in Oak Park, to Jerry and Nina Ray. She worked at Catalent Pharma Solutions, Woodstock, and was a member of the Woodstock Moose. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed the times she spent with her two nephews and niece. Survivors include her mother; a brother, Michael (Barbie Gale) Ray, Hoffman Estates; a sister, Annette (Tom) Grell, Woodstock; two nephews, Tyler Ray and Jerred Grell; a niece, Ali Grell; and aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Ray; and four grandparents. Visitation will be at 9 a.m.
