William C. Botts

William C. Botts, 83, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at Centegra Hospital-Huntley with his family by his side. He was born April 16, 1934, to Bernice (Lembcke) Botts in Woodstock. On Oct. 23, 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Marlene Elizabeth Schroeder, at Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock. He served in the U.S. Army’s 5th Division in Munich, Germany, from 1954 to 1956. He was a member of the rifle team that finished first in the NATO games held in Cologne, Germany, in 1955. A 1953 graduate of  Woodstock High School, he enjoyed following Blue Streaks sports, especially the two football state championships they won in 1983 (4A) and 1997 (5A). John Stanley Blaine

John Stanley Blaine, 76, Woodstock, died peacefully at his home Thursday, March 8, 2018. He was born Dec. 20, 1941, to Lucille and Curtis Blaine in Oak Park. He graduated from Woodstock High School in 1959. He attended both Lincoln College and Culver Stockton College. In 1963, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and specialized as a radarman. During his service, he traveled the world and, most notably, was part of a mission to restore peace and stability during the 1965 civil war of the Dominican Republic. He was honorably discharged in 1967 as petty officer third class. After returning home, he began working for UPS and remained a dedicated employee for 29 years. He was a devout father, set

Ruth Mary Ann Sullivan

Ruth Mary Ann Sullivan, 88, Wonder Lake, died Feb. 23, 2018, at Bickford Assisted Living, Crystal Lake. She was born May 22, 1929, in Chicago, to Richard and Marian (Shmerling) Kleeman. On July 16, 1949, she married Donald B. Sullivan at the Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Chicago. She was an avid gardener, loved mowing the grass and working in her yard. She also loved knitting, cooking, sewing, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Family was very important to Ruth because, after the death of her parents, she and her sister Ellen lived in the St. Joseph Orphanage in Michigan until they graduated from high school. She went to work as a secretary in Chicago. She also worked in the bookstore

Darlene May DeFerrari

Darlene May DeFerrari, 90, died peacefully at home Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born Feb. 10, 1928. She was a kind, compassionate, generous neighbor and friend. She taught her children a love of books, music, art, movies and plays to enrich their lives. They remain forever grateful. Her love of all animals was comparable to St. Francis of Assisi, touching many furry, feathery hearts. Her love for God led her, at the age of 80, to become the oldest person to be confirmed at St. Mary Church, Woodstock. Janice Doreen Torres

Janice Doreen Torres, 72, Woodstock, died suddenly and unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. She was born Sept. 16, 1945, to Paul F. and Lillian F. Miotto in Chicago. Her family moved to Woodstock when she was a young girl, and she lived in Woodstock her entire life. She most recently lived at Walden Oaks in the senior building, where she made a close circle of friends. She enjoyed attending activities held by the committees and management. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially making almost weekly visits to Chicago to visit her Aunt Nat, who is 103 years young. She loved her sister dates, too. Richard J. Teuber

Richard J. Teuber, Wauconda, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018. He was born in Chicago on Dec. 1, 1936. He was the son of August Teuber and Emilie (Orlofske) Teuber. Richard proudly served in the U.S. Army, 1960-1962, as a draftee. He served during peacetime in the Medical Corps at Fort Lewis, Washington, which helped to prepare him to care for his parents, for which his family is very grateful. He was a union bricklayer for many years. He worked on many interesting building projects in the city of Chicago. He later was a custodian for Prairie Grove District 46 until he retired. Diane Kay Gleason, 71, a baptized and confirmed member of the Christian faith, died Feb. 20, 2018, at JourneyCare Hospice in Woodstock. She is survived by three children, Susan Stelford (Roscoe), Byron Gleason Jr. (Karin), and Nancy Gleason; four grandchildren, Alex Stelford, Samantha Stelford, Hannah Gleason and Bryce Gleason; and a brother, Alfred Jeske Jr. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline Jeske; two brothers, Charles and Edward Jeske; and a daughter, Janet Gleason. Diane was born in Blue Island, the daughter of Alfred and Catherine (Lyons) Jeske and grew up in Harvey,  graduating from Thornton Township High School. Helen Rawson Stroner, 98, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock, where she lived for the past two years. She was born March 24, 1919, at her grandfather’s home in Chicago to John and Helen (Melka) Eminger. Her first husband, Bill Rawson, passed away in 1984. She later married Irv Stroner in 1989 and had five wonderful years with him before he passed. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Lombard, where she attended school and graduated from York High School in Elmhurst in 1937. Athletics and competition were an important part of her life. Patrick A. Marcucci

Patrick A. Marcucci, 68, Woodstock, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at his home. He was born March 17, 1949, to Anthony and Marsela Marcucci in Chicago. He worked for many years at the Town Tap, Woodstock. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was loved and will be missed, Survivors include two sons, Curt (Judy) Marcucci and Brian Marcucci; a daughter, Kristie (Greg) Ziemiuk; two brothers, Tom (Dusty) Marcucci and Dan Marcucci; and a grandchild, Kaiden Ziemiuk. There will be a memorial gathering held at a later date. Arrangements were made by Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home.

William Stanley Jiworsky

William Stanley Jiworsky, 66, Woodstock, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at his home. He was born Dec. 17, 1951, in Chicago to Stanley and Sophie (Loban) Jiworsky. He grew up in Chicago and was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan. He was known to be a character with a big heart. He loved to help people in need. He also loved spending time with his grandkids and attending their sporting activities. He was a great papa, dad, brother and mascot.
