Charmaine J. (McReynolds) Hay, 73, died unexpectedly April 9, 2018, in Sun Lakes, Arizona. She was born in Chicago May 30, 1944, the daughter of Ralph McReynolds and Evelyn (Hoelterhoff) McReynolds.

Charm was married Oct. 9, 1964, to Larry O. Hay and raised their three daughters in a close-knit Wonder Lake neighborhood. They enjoyed motorcycling with friends in the Rain Riders Motorcycle Club. Neighborhood annual block parties and social gatherings were always scheduled when Charm was around.

She enjoyed line dancing at Maverick, No Bull and with Norm’s Dancing Group in McHenry. She was involved with her card club and Wonder Lake cronies until she moved to her dream home in Arizona. She was so proud of her home that she made with her life partner, John, and fur child Bailey.

Charm is survived by her partner, John Babut; three daughters, Diana (Paul) Haack, Natalie (Jerry) Draffkorn Jr., and Kim (Steve Bois) Keefe; four grandchildren, Brad Larsen, Trey (Jessica) Draffkorn, Jonelle (Josh Medcalf) Draffkorn and Katelyn Keefe; a great-grandchild, Elinor Draffkorn; and three brothers, Dan (Caroline) McReynolds, Ralph “JR” (Suzanne) McReynolds, and Wesley (Debbie) McReynolds.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, in 1987; her mother, Evelyn McReynolds; her mother-in-law, Edna Hay; and her grandparents Ernest and Emily Hoelterhoff.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at Woodstock Moose, 406 Clay St.
