Paul F. Kries, 92

Paul F. Kries, age 92, of Woodstock, passed away in his sleep peacefully on May 27, 2022. He was born on June 2, 1929, in Chicago to Charles and Ruth Kries. Paul was very active in his church community at St. Patrick’s of Hartland for 33 years. Prior to that he was involved in the church and school communities that he lived in. He was an individual who continually searched for knowledge both on the internet and in his research of stocks, science, entertainment ,and sports. Paul loved to travel with his family and his life-long companion and wife. He took many trips in and out of the country. One of his favorite places to travel to was Door County.

Randy Scott Noles, 60

Randy Scott Noles, age 60, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 23, 2022, with loving family by his side. Randy was born on April 19, 1962 in Elgin, Ill. He graduated from SEDOM Center in 1983 and then became a client with Pioneer Center, where he attended their workshop until 2020. Randy enjoyed going to workshop every day and made lifelong friends. Randy was also an avid Elvis Presley and country music fan; you could always find him listening to his CD player and singing along. Randy also loved all things truck, tractor, and cars. Christopher M. Strong service May 28

A celebration of the life of Christopher M. Strong will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, in the Woodstock High School Auditorium, 501 W. South St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the C.M. Strong Scholarship and Memorial Fund, MidAmerica National Bank, 100 W. Elm St., Canton, IL 61520. Mr. Strong, 76, died Oct. 28, 2021. He taught he taught English, TV/radio, films, and advertising at Woodstock High School for 38 years.

Robert F. Carr service July 2

A celebration of his life for Robert F. Carr will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 2, at the Woodstock Opera House, where he acted and created the sets for the plays and was a founder of the Townsquare Players. He passed away July 1, 2020, at the age of 92. A scholarship has been established at Woodstock High School in Bob’s name. Marilyn J. Collignon, 90

On Sunday, April 3, 2022, Marilyn J. Collignon (née Walker), loving mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 90. Marilyn was born Sept. 8, 1931, in Chicago to Harry and Olive Walker. She dedicated over 25 years to working at UOP in Des Plaines. Her true passion, though, was theater, a love she passed down to her children and grandchild, spending many years as president of the Des Plaines Theatre Guild as well as serving as costumer, props mistress, crew member, and stage manager, even appearing onstage occasionally in small roles. Most recently, she found a love for scrapbooking (or as she called it, “photo art”) and could always be found poring over her endless genealogy records. Marilyn

Victor Nicholiavich Meuch, 76

Victor Nicholiavich Meuch, 76, went to be with his Redeemer and Lord on Feb. 7, 2022, in a one-vehicle accident. He was born on May 23,1945, in a Nazi forced-labor camp in Mitterteich, Germany, to Nicholai and Eufrosyna (Ichenko) Meuch, displaced Ukrainian nationals. In January 1951, his family immigrated to the U.S. He graduated from Greenville College with a B.A. in art and from Northern Illinois University with an M.S. in art education with a concentration in art history. After these degrees, he continued coursework to earn an additional teaching endorsement and was a lifelong learner, attending workshops and seminars, eager to improve his skills and learn new and varied ones. Thomas H. Dahlfors, 78

Thomas H. Dahlfors, age 78, passed peacefully on Friday, March 4, 2022, with his wife, Brenda, and daughter, Meriden “Denni,” at his side.He was born in Meriden, Conn., to Harry and Lucille and his big sister, Judi. He was raised in Williams Bay, Wis. and moved to Itasca, Ill., in the fourth grade. He received his B.S., M.S. and doctoral degrees in education from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.Tom loved to travel and often told stories of spending time in the Bahamas working with teachers and learning to dive for conch. Ronald W. Hyde, 81

Ronald W. Hyde, age 81, of Woodstock, passed away on March 11, 2022, in Barrington with his loving family by his side. He was born on Feb. 19, 1941, in Eddyville, Ky., the son of George and Julia (Dycus) Hyde.  In 1956 he moved to Woodstock with his family. In 1958 he started dating Carol Carlstrom, and they became high school sweethearts. They married four years later on July 7, 1962. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. He was a supervisor at Woodstock Die Cast until it closed. He then worked at HS Crocker until his retirement in 2008. Born: March 18, 1927  Passed away: March 10, 2022 Lois Kroetsching Roehr, age 94, passed away at her home on March 10, 2022. She was born on March 18, 1927, in Stratton, Neb., to Russell and Gertrude (Sharp) Kroetsching. She grew up in Sharon Springs, Kan., where she was valedictorian of her high school class. In her youth she endured the Dust Bowl, the Great Depression, and the death of her mother when she was 9 years old. Lois’ strong beliefs of right and wrong shaped her life, and when working in a movie theater at the age of 16 she refused to enforce the policy of segregating black patrons to the back of the theater. Peggy Menzel, 88, of Hartland, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Valley Hi Care Center in Hartland surrounded by her family. She was born Margaret J. Hallisy on Feb. 26, 1934, to John C. and Helen (Bourey) Hallisy. With an abundance of Margarets in the extended Hallisy family, she soon became known as Peggy, and Peggy it would be for the rest of her life. She married Richard J. “Dick” Menzel on July 4, 1953, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock. Peggy was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Hartland.
