Paul F. Kries, age 92, of Woodstock, passed away in his sleep peacefully on May 27, 2022.
He was born on June 2, 1929, in Chicago to Charles and Ruth Kries.
Paul was very active in his church community at St. Patrick’s of Hartland for 33 years. Prior to that he was involved in the church and school communities that he lived in. He was an individual who continually searched for knowledge both on the internet and in his research of stocks, science, entertainment ,and sports. Paul loved to travel with his family and his life-long companion and wife. He took many trips in and out of the country. One of his favorite places to travel to was Door County. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He served his country in the Korean War.
Paul is survived by his six children, Jackie (Mike) Triska, Corinne (Kenneth) Dillon, Cathy (Andrew) Wind, Charlene Cross, Patti Ward, and Andy (Tracy) Kries; his loving brother, Don (Janet) Kries; 14 grandchildren, Frank Kries, Leah Dillon and Ryan (Chrysa) Dillon, Michelle (Doug) Schulz, Rebecca Triska, Laura (Ryan) Pett, Courtney (Ben) Mimms, Chris (Tegan) Ward and Patrick Ward, Jessica (Mateo) Lauersdorf and Sara Cross, Drew, Adam and Ryan Kries; and five great-grandchildren, Emma and Jacob Schulz, Elliot Smith, Jacob Wasilewski and Wade Ward, Genivieve Dillon, and Robert Joseph (RJ) Pett.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Kries; his son, Steven Kries; and two grandchildren, Rachel Kries and Jason Triska.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, June 9,, 2022, from 9 a.m. until the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hartland, 15012 St. Patrick Road, Woodstock, IL 60098. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Foundation.
