Ronald W. Hyde, 81

Ronald W. Hyde, age 81, of Woodstock, passed away on March 11, 2022, in Barrington with his loving family by his side.

He was born on Feb. 19, 1941, in Eddyville, Ky., the son of George and Julia (Dycus) Hyde. 

In 1956 he moved to Woodstock with his family. In 1958 he started dating Carol Carlstrom, and they became high school sweethearts. They married four years later on July 7, 1962. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this year. He was a supervisor at Woodstock Die Cast until it closed. He then worked at HS Crocker until his retirement in 2008.

He loved to fish and spent many times with his family in Wisconsin and Minnesota fishing. He was a Boy Scout leader with his brother Denny in Troop 167 for several years. Ron was also very artistic; his most proud accomplishment was decorating prize-winning pumpkins for his kids and grandkids, and they would win first place in the contests. To his grandchildren he was Papa Ronnie. Lauren and Jake named him Superman. 

Ronald is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Steve (Kip) Hyde, Michelle (Dave) Hammer, and Melissa Krause; grandchildren and his pride and joy, Lauren Hammer, Jacob Hammer, and Emma Krause; brothers, Donald (Connie) Hyde and Dennis (Debbie) Hyde; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Art and Emma Carlston

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 16, 2022, from 3 until 7 p.m. at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, IL 60098. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the funeral service on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name can be made to American Cancer Society.
