Ronald R. Berg

Ronald R. Berg, 78, Wonder Lake, died Monday, April 9, 2012, in the Inpatient Unit of Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois, Barrington. He was born Jan. 30, 1934, in Chicago to Raymond E. and Amanda M. (Linn) Berg. On Aug. 24, 1957, he married Nancy M. Graham in Park Ridge. He was a resident of Wonder Lake for 51 years and a member of the Teamsters Union for 40 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1960 with the Airborne Squadron.He was a member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge 1329. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Nancy; two sons, James (Lisa) Berg, Woodstock, and Alan (Ruth) Berg, Carol Stream; three daughters, Cindy Berg, Ingleside,

Wayne R. Greis

  Wayne R. Greis, 69, Woodstock, died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington. He was born Sept. 24, 1942, in Chicago to Raymond Julius and Lorraine (Rietschel) Greis. On July 26, 2003, he married Kathy Koltz. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1970, stationed at Fort Bougival, France.  He served in the 12th Special Forces Reserves.He was an active member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge No. 1329. He worked in security for Morton Chemical Company. An avid fisherman, he invented a fishing tool called the Hooker. Survivors include his wife; his mother; his children, Jodie Greis, Michele Crosswhite and Katie (Brett) Aulwes and Chad Wille; two sisters, Jeanne Greis and Judy (Jim) Bujniewicz;

Shelley R. Stoddard

  Shelley R. Stoddard, 52, Woodstock, died Friday, April 6, 2012, at her home. She was born in Peru, Illinois, May 9, 1959, to Ronald and Dee (Opsal) Moerdick. She attended Crystal Lake Central High School. She was a waitress for more than 10 years at The Breakers Restaurant in Crystal Lake. Survivors include a son, Joey (Alisha) Stoddard, Marengo; two daughters, Katie Stoddard, Cherry Valley,  and Kelly Stoddard, Crystal Lake; her mother, Reno; two brothers, Chuck (Mary) Moerdick and Kevin (Sue) Moerdick, Reno; a sister, Diane (Marc) Giovannoni; and Paul Stoddard. She was preceded in death by her father. Memorial Mass was held April 10 at the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. Memorials would be appreciated.

Angeline Margaret Raycraft

  Angeline Margaret Raycraft, 95, Woodstock, died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Hearthstone Manor Nursing Home, Woodstock. She was born April 20,1916, in Northfield to William and Pauline (Happ) Selzer. On June 29, 1940, she married J. Walter Raycraft at St. Thomas Church, Crystal Lake. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary Church, Woodstock.   Survivors include a son, John Raycraft, Castlerock, Colo.; a daughter, Diane (Kurt Ryckman) Raycraft, Algonquin; five grand-children, Colleen (Greg) Geils, Steve (Liz) Ritter, Matthew (Tracy) Ritter, Courtney (Kyle) Malnati and Brandon Raycraft; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Mary (Donald) Weingart; and a sister-in-law, Irene Raycraft. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1998; a daughter and son-in-law,

Betty J. Westphal

  Betty J. Westphal, 85, Woodstock, died Monday, April 2, 2012, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock. She was born May 14, 1926, in Hartland Township to Emery and Marie (Schwebke) Menge. On June 30, 1945, she married Clarence F. Westphal. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of  Woodstock VFW Post 5040. She served as a parade marshal for a Memorial Day parade and was active in the Aid Association for Lutherans, serving as secretary for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Craig) Adams and Holly (Gabriel) Raczon; eight grandchildren, Angela (Michael) Rogers, Kirsten Westphal, Alan Westphal, Joshua (Jaime) Westphal, Aimee Adams, Abby Adams, Thea Raczon and Tyler Raczon; eight great-grandchildren, Megan (Bradley) Rowell,

Michael J. Harrigan

  Michael J. Harrigan, 66, Woodstock, died Tuesday, April 3, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock. He was born April 6, 1945, in Evergreen Park to Patrick and Margaret (McNichols) Harrigan. On Dec.19, 1976, he married Jeanette M. Doyle in Palos Park. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University. He worked for Ford Motor Company and loved the outdoors. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Shannon (John) Duckworth, St. Louis, and Katie (Jason Butcher) Harrigan, Memphis, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Finn Duckworth and Elliott Duckworth; a sister, Margaret Harrigan, Evergreen Park; a brother, Jim (Connie) Harrigan; and two nieces, Christy and Jamie. K. James “Jim” McCaleb

  K. James “Jim” McCaleb, 79, Hebron, Ind., died Saturday, March 31, 2012. He was born in Ottawa. He graduated from Illinois State University and received a doctorate from Michigan State University. He developed the degree completion program for public safety at Calumet College of St. Joseph and retired as a professor of behavioral sciences from South Suburban College, South Holland. He was preceded in death by his first wife, E. Ann McCaleb. Survivors include his wife, Pat McCaleb, Woodstock; a daughter, Julie Ann (James) Morris, Crown Point, Ind.; a son, David James (Laurel A.) McCaleb, Chicago; three grandchildren, Kailey (Brad) Gernenz, Jason Morris and Grace McCaleb; and a great-grandson, Logan. The visitation was April 3 at Burns Funeral Home,

Frances Peasley

  Frances Peasley, 86, Woodstock, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Hearthstone Manor. She was born June 3, 1925, on the family farm near Raritan to John D. and Anna Marie O’Leary Keane. She graduated from Media High School in 1942 and attended Western Illinois University from 1942 to 1943. She married Don Peasley Feb. 14, 1946, and lived in Woodstock with her husband and family since October 1947. She commuted daily to Chicago to earn a bachelor’s degree in theology from Mundelein College in 1973 and a master’s degree in psychology from Roosevelt University in 1975. She established a psychotherapy practice and, in addition, provided free counseling to students at St. Teresa School in Chicago, where her older daughter,

John Adelmann

  John Adelmann, 68, Woodstock, died Monday, March 26, 2012, at home surrounded by his wife and family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born to John and Bernice (Cunico) Adelmann and grew up in Lockport.  He graduated from Lockport Township High School in 1961. He loved baseball and was a pitcher for Lockport High and at Northern Illinois University, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He married high school sweetheart, Jeanne Rodeghero, Jan. 4, 1964.  He taught history at West Chicago High School for three years, then joined the faculty of McHenry County College in 1969, during its second year of operation. He served as director of student services beginning in 1974, dean of instruction

Philip Gockman

Philip Gockman, 52, Woodstock, died Friday, March 16, 2012, at his home. He was born Aug. 15, 1959, in Chicago, to Phillip and Jean (Adamczyk). He worked many years at Jem Top Inc. in Palatine. He was an avid coin collector and spent many hours building model airplanes and ships.  Survivors include two sisters, Paula (Michael) Bishop and Gail (Dale Marchini) Gockman; a brother, Daniel (Virginia) Gockman; five nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn Gockman. Funeral Mass was held March 31 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Crystal Lake.
