Betty J. Westphal

 

Betty J. Westphal, 85, Woodstock, died Monday, April 2, 2012, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock.

She was born May 14, 1926, in Hartland Township to Emery and Marie (Schwebke) Menge. On June 30, 1945, she married Clarence F. Westphal.

She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of  Woodstock VFW Post 5040. She served as a parade marshal for a Memorial Day parade and was active in the Aid Association for Lutherans, serving as secretary for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Craig) Adams and Holly (Gabriel) Raczon; eight grandchildren, Angela (Michael) Rogers, Kirsten Westphal, Alan Westphal, Joshua (Jaime) Westphal, Aimee Adams, Abby Adams, Thea Raczon and Tyler Raczon; eight great-grandchildren, Megan (Bradley) Rowell, Nicholas Carr, Cassie Carr, Skyler Rogers, Mikaela Rogers, Dallas Rogers, Brodie Westphal and Gavin Westphal; and a great-great-grandchild, Graysen Rowell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1976;  three sons, Ronald Westphal, Carl Westphal and Gary Westphal; and a grandchild, Amanda Westphal.

Visitation was April 6 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. The funeral service was April 7 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Woodstock. Interment was in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Harvard.
