Angeline Margaret Raycraft

  Angeline Margaret Raycraft, 95, Woodstock, died Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Hearthstone Manor Nursing Home, Woodstock. She was born April 20,1916, in Northfield to William and Pauline (Happ) Selzer. On June 29, 1940, she married J. Walter Raycraft at St. Thomas Church, Crystal Lake. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Mary Church, Woodstock.   Survivors include a son, John Raycraft, Castlerock, Colo.; a daughter, Diane (Kurt Ryckman) Raycraft, Algonquin; five grand-children, Colleen (Greg) Geils, Steve (Liz) Ritter, Matthew (Tracy) Ritter, Courtney (Kyle) Malnati and Brandon Raycraft; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Mary (Donald) Weingart; and a sister-in-law, Irene Raycraft. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1998; a daughter and son-in-law,

Betty J. Westphal

  Betty J. Westphal, 85, Woodstock, died Monday, April 2, 2012, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock. She was born May 14, 1926, in Hartland Township to Emery and Marie (Schwebke) Menge. On June 30, 1945, she married Clarence F. Westphal. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of  Woodstock VFW Post 5040. She served as a parade marshal for a Memorial Day parade and was active in the Aid Association for Lutherans, serving as secretary for many years. Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Craig) Adams and Holly (Gabriel) Raczon; eight grandchildren, Angela (Michael) Rogers, Kirsten Westphal, Alan Westphal, Joshua (Jaime) Westphal, Aimee Adams, Abby Adams, Thea Raczon and Tyler Raczon; eight great-grandchildren, Megan (Bradley) Rowell,

Michael J. Harrigan

  Michael J. Harrigan, 66, Woodstock, died Tuesday, April 3, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock. He was born April 6, 1945, in Evergreen Park to Patrick and Margaret (McNichols) Harrigan. On Dec.19, 1976, he married Jeanette M. Doyle in Palos Park. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola University. He worked for Ford Motor Company and loved the outdoors. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Shannon (John) Duckworth, St. Louis, and Katie (Jason Butcher) Harrigan, Memphis, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Finn Duckworth and Elliott Duckworth; a sister, Margaret Harrigan, Evergreen Park; a brother, Jim (Connie) Harrigan; and two nieces, Christy and Jamie. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation was April 7 at the Harrigan residence. Internment was in

K. James “Jim” McCaleb

  K. James “Jim” McCaleb, 79, Hebron, Ind., died Saturday, March 31, 2012. He was born in Ottawa. He graduated from Illinois State University and received a doctorate from Michigan State University. He developed the degree completion program for public safety at Calumet College of St. Joseph and retired as a professor of behavioral sciences from South Suburban College, South Holland. He was preceded in death by his first wife, E. Ann McCaleb. Survivors include his wife, Pat McCaleb, Woodstock; a daughter, Julie Ann (James) Morris, Crown Point, Ind.; a son, David James (Laurel A.) McCaleb, Chicago; three grandchildren, Kailey (Brad) Gernenz, Jason Morris and Grace McCaleb; and a great-grandson, Logan. The visitation was April 3 at Burns Funeral Home,

Frances Peasley

  Frances Peasley, 86, Woodstock, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Hearthstone Manor. She was born June 3, 1925, on the family farm near Raritan to John D. and Anna Marie O’Leary Keane. She graduated from Media High School in 1942 and attended Western Illinois University from 1942 to 1943. She married Don Peasley Feb. 14, 1946, and lived in Woodstock with her husband and family since October 1947. She commuted daily to Chicago to earn a bachelor’s degree in theology from Mundelein College in 1973 and a master’s degree in psychology from Roosevelt University in 1975. She established a psychotherapy practice and, in addition, provided free counseling to students at St. Teresa School in Chicago, where her older daughter,

John Adelmann

  John Adelmann, 68, Woodstock, died Monday, March 26, 2012, at home surrounded by his wife and family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born to John and Bernice (Cunico) Adelmann and grew up in Lockport.  He graduated from Lockport Township High School in 1961. He loved baseball and was a pitcher for Lockport High and at Northern Illinois University, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He married high school sweetheart, Jeanne Rodeghero, Jan. 4, 1964.  He taught history at West Chicago High School for three years, then joined the faculty of McHenry County College in 1969, during its second year of operation. He served as director of student services beginning in 1974, dean of instruction

Philip Gockman

Philip Gockman, 52, Woodstock, died Friday, March 16, 2012, at his home. He was born Aug. 15, 1959, in Chicago, to Phillip and Jean (Adamczyk). He worked many years at Jem Top Inc. in Palatine. He was an avid coin collector and spent many hours building model airplanes and ships.  Survivors include two sisters, Paula (Michael) Bishop and Gail (Dale Marchini) Gockman; a brother, Daniel (Virginia) Gockman; five nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn Gockman. Funeral Mass was held March 31 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Crystal Lake. Charles Loomis Dubsky

  Charles Loomis Dubsky, 70, Wonder Lake, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at his home. He was born Dec. 22, 1941, in Davenport, Iowa, to Harry and Esther (Loomis) Dubsky. On May 5, 2007, he married Ann Johnson. He was dedicated to doing good for children and the environment.  He was active in the community, having volunteered for the McHenry County Conservation District. He was a member of the Hebron Township Planning Commission. He was heavily involved with the ELA soccer club in Lake Zurich and was a school bus driver for the Alden-Hebron School District.  Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Julie (Charlie) Filipek, Lauren (Spencer) Overman and Marcie Dubsky; five grandchildren, Jake Richards, Jocelyn Silovich, C.J. Filipek, Parker

Robert E. Hurley

  Robert E. Hurley, 81, Burlington, Wis., died Sunday, March 25, 2012, in Springfield, Ore.  He was born May 7, 1930, in Woodstock to Dennis and Grace (Scott) Hurley.  He attended St. Mary Grade School and High School in Woodstock.  He graduated from St. Mary Seminary in Crystal Lake in 1949 and Queen of Apostles Seminary in Madison, Wis., in 1953. He spent his entire working career in drugstore pharmacy, beginning at Mitchel’s Drug Store in 1946, until retiring Jan. 9, 2001, from K-Mart in Woodstock. Survivors include a nephew, Dennis Hurley, Harrisburg, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard “Dick” Hurley; and a sister-in-law, Angeline Hurley. Visitation was April 1 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney

Carolyn Marie Schmidt

Carolyn Marie Schmidt, 97, Woodstock, died Monday, March 12, 2012, at Hearthstone Manor. She was born May 6, 1914, in McHenry, to John and Barbara (Hein) Regner. She was a registered nurse, and in 1944 began employment at Memorial Hospital of Woodstock. She retired after 29 years of service but continued volunteering for many years. She married Oliver Stratton June 3, 1937. They were active in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Little League and Junior Theatre Group and the Theatre Guild of the late ‘40s and early ‘50s at the Woodstock Opera House. He passed away May 11, 1967. She married Harold Schmidt Sept. 4, 1971. They traveled widely on this continent and other continents until his death in 1984.
