Dr. Kathleen “KC” Casteel

Dr. Kathleen “KC” Casteel, 61, Madeira Beach, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014.
She was born Oct. 10, 1952, to Buford Kenneth and Cheiko Casteel in Fukuoka, Japan.
She earned a bachelor’s degree at Middle Tennessee State University, a master’s at DePaul University and a doctorate at National Chiropractic College, Lombard.
She began her career as a medical technologist in Tennessee. She then went on to become director of strategy development at Baxter Travenol.
She decided to change her health care path and pursue a doctorate of chiropractic, which truly was her passion. After earning her doctorate she opened a multi-doctor chiropractic clinic in Woodstock, where she practiced for 20 years.
She retired and moved to Florida, where she passionately pursued learning the game of tennis. She went from basic instruction to competing at a national level in mixed doubles.
She wanted to be remembered for her love of life. Never wanting the traditional funeral, she hosted a “Celebration of Life” party last year for many of her friends.
Survivors include her life partner of 24 years, Sally Marshall, Madeira Beach, Fla.; and her two favorite pups, Ted and Alli.
Contributions can be sent to KC’s Kamp for Kids, BB & T Bank, 360 Central Ave., Suite 150, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, Attn: Kitsana. KC’s Kamp benefits children who want to play tennis.
