Luke Andrew Johnsos
Luke Andrew Johnsos, 75, Woodstock, died March 5 after a long battle with cancer.
He was born May 10, 1941, in Evanston.
He cherished his family, his faith and his community, devoting his life to serving others. He held positions on the Deerfield School Board, many Woodstock School District 200 referendum committees, the McHenry County Restaurant Association, the Illinois Restaurant Association and the Rural Woodstock Public Library Board. He was president of the District 200 Backers Club for two years.
His decades of commitment to local healthcare included time on the Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, of which he was president in 1995. He also sat on the Board of Governors of Centegra Health System for more than 20 years and was chairman from 2000 to 2002.
He established Business Graphics/Woodstock Dietary Systems in 1981 and ran the business with his wife until his retirement in 2015. He served many years as an usher at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock.
Johnsos graduated from Michigan State University in 1964 and remained a Spartan fan all his life. His other favorite pastimes undoubtedly were playing golf with friends and family and rooting for the Chicago Bears through thick and thin.
His greatest joy came from spending time with his six grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Judy (Corey) Johnsos; four children, Luke Andrew Johnsos III, Chicago, Peter (Charlene) Johnsos, Batavia, Anne (Clark) Richter, Chicago, and Katie (Kimo) Sanderson, Chicago; six grandchildren, Jack and Ellie Sanderson, Sofia and Hannah Richter and Zeke and Josh Johnsos; four sisters, Judy (John) Wohlford, Janet Trafelet, Barbara (Brian) Kocher and Ann (Bob) Steffes; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was March 12 at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin and Cooney funeral home, Woodstock. A funeral Mass was held March 13 at St. Mary Church, Woodstock.
