Elizabeth A. “Betty” Davis

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Davis, 91, Woodstock, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock.

She was born July 31, 1923, to Paul C. and Alma M. (Baril) Gossmann in DeKalb.

On Feb. 12, 1955, she married Jack Davis.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. 

While living in Aurora, she worked at Western Union for 15 years. After moving her family to Woodstock, she took a job at the Woodstock Public Library where she worked for 20 years. She enjoyed genealogy work and her time volunteering at Sheltered Village. She was loved and will be missed.

Survivors include two sons, John (Yvonne) Davis and Michael Davis; a daughter, Laura (John) Marsh; five grandchildren, A.J. (Laura) Marx, Michelle Marsh, Jennifer Davis, Jeff Davis and Joe (Nicole) Davis; and a sister Maryann Gossmann.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her step-mother; a brother, Paul Gossmann; and a sister, Joanne Gossmann.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. A liturgical wake service will be at 7 pm. The visitation will continue at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 19, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Ave., until the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. 

Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Friends of the Woodstock Library.
