Carol A. Vosburgh, 77, Woodstock, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at the JourneyCare Hospice-Woodstock. She was born Oct. 3, 1939, to Carl and Amelia (Doer) Brodbeck. She worked for the Woodstock Die Cast Company, Guardian Electric and Automatic Liquid Packaging.  She loved flowers and watching the hummingbirds at her bird feeders. She also enjoyed going out to lunch with her friends and vacationing in Florida. She will be missed by all who knew her. Elaine L. Steinwehe, 83, Woodstock, died Monday, July 10, 2017, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. She was born Jan. 12, 1934, to Louis and Esther (Hermanson) Stieg in Woodstock. On Sept. 24, 1955, she married her husband of 61 years, Robert “Dutch” Steinwehe in Woodstock. She was a longtime member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock. She attended Rush – Copley Nursing College in Aurora, received her nursing degree and went to work in a career she loved, nursing. She loved being a nurse because she loved to help others. She always put the needs of others before her own. She loved to travel, enjoying trips to Hawaii and other destinations. Cruises were her favorite and a great source of joy and

Grace Pembroke Greenwald, 90, Woodstock, died peacefully Monday, July 3, 2017, at Hearthstone Manor, Woodstock. She was born March 7, 1927, to Grace Gunning and John Pembroke in Urbana. On March 31, 1951, she married Frank Greenwald in Gary, Ind. She attended Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, where she was a Kappa Alpha Theta.  She earned a degree in sociology and went on to become an elementary school teacher.  Her brief professional career gave way to a career as a mother and active participant in her community. She served in the Woodstock Hospital Auxiliary in various capacities for more than 40 years. Jean Zbilski, 59, Woodstock, died at her home Monday, July 3, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 20, 1958, to Norman and Elenore (Fritz) Muller in Chicago. She married James Zbilski. Jean was a loving and friendly person and made everyone she met feel at ease. She loved meeting new people and making lasting friendships. She was known for her love of cows. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her. Survivors include her husband and two children, Thomas and Theresa. She was preceded in death by her parents. Kurt R. Maas, 71, Woodstock, died Monday, July 3, 2017, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 26, 1946, to Theodore and Doris (Lehman) Mass in Chicago. He was baptized in 1946 at St. Steven’s Lutheran Church, Chicago, and he was confirmed in 1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Brookfield. On Feb. 25, 1995, he married the love of his life, Jane Stack. He joined the Marine Corps in 1964, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. After three years of service, he returned home and received his high school diploma from Riverside Brookfield High School. Cassidy Star Corcoran, 24, Woodstock, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 4, 2017, in Chicago. She was born Dec. 25, 1992, to Patrick Joseph and Deborah (Carrasco) Corcoran in Arlington Heights. She was the brightest star, born on Christmas day and was the most beautiful girl in the world. Her passions included the ocean and oceanography, painting rocks, horses and nature. She loved to write stories and poems and was an avid reader. Survivors include her mother; a sister, Sommer Skye Corcoran; an aunt, Cynthia (Al) Voras; and an uncle, Bill (Sylvia) Carrasco. James W. “Jim” Ingemanson, 73, Crystal Lake, died June 24, 2017, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born Sept. 30, 1943, to Philip and Edith Ingemanson in Chicago. He received a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Augustana College and was a long-term active alumnus. He received a Master of Science in inorganic chemistry from Iowa State and a Master of Science in chemical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. He had an active career teaching college chemistry and general science as well as chemical laboratory analysis. He was a longtime member of The American Chemical Society. He was a lifelong Lutheran and current member of Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock, and Lebanon Lutheran Church, White Hall, Mich.

Diane M. Thurow, 88, Woodstock, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Hearthstone Manor, Woodstock. She was born Nov. 10, 1928, to Erwin W. and Ingrid E. (Thorsen) Schulz in Chicago. On Dec. 3, 1949, she married John O. Thurow in Chicago. She was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5040 Auxiliary, Woodstock, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Marengo. She worked at Woodstock Auto Lite and the First National Bank of Woodstock for many years. She was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock. She loved helping by bringing communion to people in the hospital or nursing homes and cooking or baking for church functions or funeral luncheons. Rita Marie Denham, 98, died June 17, 2017, in Woodstock. She was born March 9, 1919, to Arch and Olive (O’Connell) Peebles at a farm outside Griswold, Iowa. She graduated from Griswold High School and from Nebraska State Teachers College at Peru, Neb., after which she taught grades one to eight in a one-room country schoolhouse near Massena, Iowa. She married Max Denham, the love of her life, Sept. 23, 1944, upon his return from Pearl Harbor. They made their home in Charles City, Iowa, until job transfers took them to Minneapolis in 1971 and then to the Chicago area in 1975. ucille Ann “Lucë” Marie (Kempinski) York, 73, died peacefully April 12, 2017, in Waterford, Wis. She was born Dec. 23, 1943, in Sharon, Penn., to Casimir Kempinski and Lucille (Nunkovic) Kempinski. She graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and did post-graduate work in Russian literature at the University of Colorado-Boulder. In 1975, while working at Encyclopedia Britannica in Chicago, she met the love of her life, Richard Charles York, and the two married soon after. Lucë was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for many years, serving at the local and council levels in many capacities.
