Anna V. Stahlecker, 87, Woodstock, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at Crossroads Care Center, Woodstock. She was born July 30, 1930, to Fred and Elizabeth (Soenksen) Jansen in Elwood, Iowa. On March 12, 1955, she married Richard Stahlecker. She enjoyed sewing, working as a seamstress for many years. She also worked in factories including Plaspros. She loved her times with her friends, playing cards and being the chauffeur for anyone who needed a ride. Mostly she enjoyed being with her family and friends. She was loved and will be missed. Robert Louis Klein died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born June 30, 1931, to Leo and Catherine Klein in Friendship, Wis. He graduated from Adams/Friendship High School in 1949 and served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955 in Europe on the U.S.S. Lloyd Thomas. After service to his country, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and -Platteville to study civil engineering. While in Stevens Point, he met his future wife, (Anita) Joann Burmeister. They married in March of 1959. As a student, he worked on the construction of Wisconsin Highway I-90. After graduation from Platteville in 1961, he worked for the city of Madison, Wis., as a land surveyor.  He loved being outside

Kenneth “Kent” H. Leatherman, 102, Woodstock, died peacefully Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, surrounded by his family at Hearthstone Manor. He was born Nov. 12, 1914, to Robert and Helen (Lichtenstein) Leatherman in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated in 1933 from Davenport High School, Davenport, Iowa; in 1938 from Wessington Springs Junior College, South Dakota; and in 1946 from Seattle Pacific College, Washington. On June 5, 1939, he married the love of his life, Iona B. Gillette, in Sioux Falls, S.D. They enjoyed 66 years together until her death June 7, 2005. They were both lifelong members of the Free Methodist Church, and as partners they pastored seven churches in the Dakotas and Wisconsin for 24 years, followed by serving as

Stella Violet Dyck Matthews, 97, Woodstock, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at Valley Hi Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 17, 1919, the oldest daughter of Roman and Catherine (Barlik) Chimleski in Bayonne, N.J. She graduated from Sherman Business School March 21, 1938, and worked as an executive secretary and stenographer at various companies in New Jersey. She was in the Naval Reserves during World War II and trained as a Red Cross aide.  She loved the outdoors, especially the ocean, and spent many summers at the Jersey shore. She also loved animals of all kinds and had many pets she considered her companions through her lifetime. She was seldom without a kitten or cat to cuddle. During the course

David M. Moran, 36, Poplar Grove, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at his home. He was born June 14, 1981, to Terry M. and Gail (Kramka) Moran in Woodstock. He loved playing the guitar and learning tricks on his BMX bike.  He was an artist and enjoyed working on his computer and playing role-playing video games. After Little League, fishing became his sport of choice. He loved the family cats and all animals tame and wild. He was ecstatic about his car and loved to go for rides. Thomas P. Cadieux, 70, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at his home in Bull Valley. He was born July 21, 1947, in Jamestown, N.D., to Donald and Margaret (nee Gurski) Cadieux. He married Mary Sandner Nov. 11, 1972, in Dundee. For 10 years he worked for the Quaker Oats Company, then in quality control at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. After leaving the company, he opened Cadieux’s Bakery in downtown Crystal Lake and operated the bakery for 27 years. After closing the shop, he worked as a driver for GNT Limousine Service for seven years. In his retirement, he became a beekeeper He also raised chickens. Philip Joseph Woznicki, 66, Woodstock died Friday, Sept. 1, 2017. He was born in Chicago April 14, 1951, to Lawrence and Anne (Carty) Woznicki. On Aug. 24, 1974, he married the love of his life, Sandra E. Salvo. Phil devoted over 45 years to a career in special education, retiring from NSSEO (Kirk School).  After retiring, he continued to work at McHenry high schools and Sunrise Lake Outdoor Education Center. He served as a volunteer for McHenry County Conservation District. He recently began volunteering for PADS in Woodstock. Phil enjoyed the outdoors. Shirley A. Hunter, 83, Faribault, Minn., died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, at District One Hospital, Faribault. She was born June 27, 1934, in Crystal Lake, to Arnold and Hazel (Bird) Ehlert. She graduated from Woodstock High School. She married Robert K. Hunter Dec. 11, 1954, in Chicago. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and “coffee hour” with her friends. James “Bones” Hansen died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, from cancer at Centegra Hospital, Huntley. He was an avid Chicago sports fan. Survivors include a brother, Gary (Ginny) Hansen; a niece, Amy Alessi; and a great-nephew, Aidan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Helen Hansen; and an infant brother, Sonny. A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the McCullum Lake Village Hall, 4811 W. Orchard Drive, McCullum Lake. John Irvin Lillie Sr.,  88, Brentwood, Tenn., fomerly of Woodstock, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017. He was born June 2, 1929, to William H.T. and Helen Dutson Lillie in Camden, N.J. He attended Temple University in Philadelphia and served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Franklin, Tenn. He was a vice president of Oscar Mayer Foods and general manager of its subsidiary, Claussen Pickle Co. During his career with Claussen, he served in many leadership positions. He was the first recipient of the Harold Buschkopf Community Service Award and was named Citizen of the Year by both the Woodstock Lions Club and St. Mark’s Masonic Lodge,
