Philip Joseph Woznicki

Philip Joseph Woznicki, 66, Woodstock died Friday, Sept. 1, 2017.

He was born in Chicago April 14, 1951, to Lawrence and Anne (Carty) Woznicki. On Aug. 24, 1974, he married the love of his life, Sandra E. Salvo.

Phil devoted over 45 years to a career in special education, retiring from NSSEO (Kirk School).  After retiring, he continued to work at McHenry high schools and Sunrise Lake Outdoor Education Center. He served as a volunteer for McHenry County Conservation District. He recently began volunteering for PADS in Woodstock.

Phil enjoyed the outdoors. Highlights of his retirement years included taking road trips with friends and stargazing.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Heather (William) Yoder, Elizabeth (Brian) Bergren, Kathleen Woznicki, Maggie Woznicki (Drew Van Winkle); four grandchildren, Wyatt and Aubrey Yoder, Caiden and Elizabeth Bergren; siblings, Patricia (Jack) Knapp, Margaret Major, Lawrence (Laurie) Woznicki, Diana Woznicki; and many other family members and countless friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael (Isabella) Woznicki.

A gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday, Sept. 17, at Pleasant Valley Conservation District Amphitheater and Shelter 2. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by a celebration of life service. Family requests that attendees dress for the weather and bring lawn chairs.

Memorial gifts can be made to the Phil Woznicki Memorial Fund at BMO Harris Bank in Woodstock. Contributions will support organizations that Phil loved.
