Roberta Stenhoff, born March 22, 1937, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017. She is survived by her husband, Mike; three children, Mike, Lacey and Meredith; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Juanita J. Dycus, 88, Woodstock, died Monday Oct. 16, 2017, at Hearthstone Manor Nursing Home, Woodstock. She was born June 15, 1929, the daughter of Oliver L. and Ruth C. (Wolford) Lile in Goldsberry, Mo. On Dec. 20, 1952, she married Russell G. Dycus in Woodstock. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock. She retired as office manager of Peet Frate Lines, Woodstock, after serving for 36 years. She was a member of Teamsters Local #301 and was also a member of the Women of the Moose. Charles J. ‘Chuck’ Zimmermann, 92, Woodstock, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, in JourneyCare Hospice, Woodstock. He was born Oct. 19, 1924, to Fred and Theresa (Gart) Zimmermann in Chicago. He married Marian Mundt Fillion in Woodstock. He began farming at an early age. His joy of farming soon fired his love for tractors, plants, animals and a knack for growing beautiful roses. After he left the farm, he worked for a number of different companies including Brown Camera, Kishwaukee Valley Medical and Amcore Bank, to name a few. Glenn F. Ober, 75, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Northwestern Hospital, Chicago. He was born March 3, 1942, to Glenn H. and Bessie (Freeman) Ober in Woodstock. On July 4, 1973, he married Barbara J. Radcliffe in Elgin. A graduate of Woodstock schools, Glenn went on to receive a degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida. In 1963, he was drafted into service by the U.S. Army during the conflict in Vietnam, where he served one tour as crew chief of a CH47 Chinook helicopter. Susan Louise Metivier, 70, Bull Valley, died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, in Crystal Lake. She was born May 3, 1947, to Robert Hall and Virginia Warner Hall in Indianapolis, Ind. On June 28, 1969, she married Donald Metivier in indianapolis, Ind. From the time she was a high school exchange student in France, she was a Francophile. She and Don took many trips to Western Europe visiting the great cities, museums and cathedrals and immersing themselves in the everyday life of provincial France. Sue introduced Don and many friends to the joys of French cuisine. Sue received her Bachelor of Arts in French from Indiana University. She taught French at Palatine High School for five years. Marlene Ann Lantz, 70, Rensselaer, Ind., formerly of McHenry, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at IU Health Arnett Hospital, La Fayette, Ind. She was born Jan. 5, 1947, to Edward Kettmann and Mariette Griesmar in Streator. She attended St. Mary Catholic School, Woodstock, and graduated from Marian Central Catholic High School in 1965. She studied at Elgin Community College and the Milwaukee School of Mortuary Science. She received her professional license in 1970 and worked at hospitals and Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral Home, Algonquin, until she became chief deputy coroner for McHenry County in 1980. Sally Jane Gavers, 79, Woodstock, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at home with her sons and her best friend, Sheryl Senft, by her side. She was a cancer warrior, surviving nine years after her diagnosis. She was born Oct. 2, 1938, the daughter of Christopher and Whilamena Schumacher in Crystal Lake. On October 21, 1961, she married Donald R. Gavers, and they settled in Woodstock and raised their sons. She was a Tiger — a graduate of Crystal Lake Central High School. Her love of animals was ignited when she worked for a veterinarian shorty after her graduation. Her career as a beautician lasted 50-plus years. Quentin Beach, 34, died unexpectedly at his home Monday, Sept. 25, 2017. He was born Jan. 10, 1983, in Woodstock. He graduated from Hebron High School. He worked at Plaspros in McHenry and later at Allied Barton Security. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend, and he will be sorely missed. Charles “Mike” Meikel, 94, died peacefully in Crystal Lake. He lived in McHenry County most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was stationed in the Asiatic/Pacific theater as a gunner’s mate on the U.S.S. Gwin. He was awarded the Silver Star medal. He took great pride in his work as a carpenter and maintaining the farm and orchard. Later in life, he embraced the hobby of wood turning, creating many beautiful and intricately patterned bowls. Survivors include his wife, Bev; a daughter, Kathy (Doug) Mather; and a granddaughter, Kailyn. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters. A brief memorial service and gathering of friends will be held at 3
