Glenn F. Ober

Glenn F. Ober, 75, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Northwestern Hospital, Chicago.

He was born March 3, 1942, to Glenn H. and Bessie (Freeman) Ober in Woodstock.

On July 4, 1973, he married Barbara J. Radcliffe in Elgin.

A graduate of Woodstock schools, Glenn went on to receive a degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida. In 1963, he was drafted into service by the U.S. Army during the conflict in Vietnam, where he served one tour as crew chief of a CH47 Chinook helicopter. He worked as a corporate pilot for three major Chicago-based corporations for 38 years. He enjoyed tree farming, beekeeping and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Linda C. (Scott) Schweiger, Newark, Ohio, and Paul J. Ober, Missoula, Mont.; two grandchildren, Andrew and Jeremy; and an aunt, Genevieve (Ober) Hay.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nancy Ober.

A memorial gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. Inurnment will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Harvard, at a later date.
