Dorothy (Langan) Sorensen

Dorothy (Langan) Sorensen, 1923-2018, a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church, member of Legion of Mary and resident of Woodstock, Ill., returned to Our Lord Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, at A.G. Rhodes of Wesley Woods in Atlanta, Ga. Dorothy, born in Cedar Rapids, Neb., married Victor Sorensen in 1941. Dorothy was a loving woman who enjoyed cooking, sewing and being with her family. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Karen (Ken), Donna (Robert), and Barbara (William), and son, James, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Carrie; husband, Victor; sisters, Luzetta, Ida, Mary, Mabel and Alice; brothers Elwood, Elmer and William; son, Allen; and grandson, Jacob. Visitation was on Thursday, Aug.

Jacqueline “Jackie” Gerber

Jacqueline “Jackie” Gerber, resident of Warrenville, Ill., and formerly of Woodstock, Ill., passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018. Jackie was the beloved wife of Al Gerber; loving mother of Nick Herscha; and step-mother of Cindy (Kevin) Houy, Christy (Jeff) Bohmer, Caryn (Erich) Doering, and Charles (Dannielle) Gerber; cherished daughter of the late Howard and Linda Brewer; and proud grandmother of 12. Services in celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jackie’s memorial fund in care of the family at 28W379 Batavia Road, Warrenville, IL 60555.

Hazel M. Church 94, of Woodstock, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at Centegra Hospital in Huntley. She was born in Harvard on May 18, 1924, to Sanford and Georgia (Gallup) Sweet. She married Robert Church on April 24, 1946, in Woodstock. He passed away March 12, 1995. She was a 50-year member at First United Methodist Church in Woodstock. She worked for many years as a painter at Woodstock Die Cast. She was a member at the local UAW, and a 50-year member of the Woodstock Moose. Hazel was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Robert “Bob” F. Fuchs

Robert “Bob” F. Fuchs, 90, of Woodstock, died Friday, July 6, 2018, at JourneyCare Woodstock surrounded by his family. He was born June 15, 1928, to Albert J. and Magdalen (George) Fuchs. Bob was raised in Woodstock, where he met and later married Eileen R. Demuth on Sept. 16, 1950, in Woodstock. From Nov. 10, 1950, to Oct. 28, 1952, Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. After returning home, he worked at Woodstock Die Cast for many years. Bob loved to garden and would grow enough food to feed his family all winter, also sharing his bounty with friends and neighbors. He was a “Master Gardener” before people used that term. Elsie Jane Darby, 94, of Belvidere, Ill., passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, in Northwoods Care Centre. Elsie was born on Aug. 23, 1923, in Belvidere, Ill., the daughter of Otto and Blanche (Franklin) Klaas. She was a 1941 graduate of Belvidere High School. Elsie married her high school sweetheart, Russell E. Darby, on Nov. 4, 1943, on the Naval Base in Corpus Christi, Texas. She spent most of her working career at Dean Foods in the administration office. Elsie and Russ enjoyed their retirement in their beloved lake home in Three Lakes, Wis. She was an avid sports fan, especially cheering on her Chicago Cubs. Her whole life was devoted to helping her family, friends and neighbors. Elsie

Craig Hunt, age 56 of Webb City, Mo. passed away July 30, 2018, at his home. He was born Jan. 9, 1962, in Woodstock, to Ralph and Ruth (Sherman) Hunt. Craig graduated from Woodstock High School in 1980. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was proud to wear his Woodstock Thunder sweatshirt because his nephew Jason was a basketball coach at Woodstock North High School.. He also loved to cook. He was a former employee of Blue Buffalo. Jacqueline M. Tucker, 79, of Woodstock, died Sunday, July 15, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock. She was born Jan. 30, 1939, in Chicago to John and Libusa (Mayer) Jacobs. She married Terrence Tucker Sr. Nov. 9, 1957. Mrs. Tucker was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She was known to keep a close eye on politics and history and was ready for conversation on either. Robert D. Hahn

Robert D. Hahn, 78, of Marengo, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Centegra Hospital-Huntley. He was born Feb. 11, 1940, in Woodstock to William and Clara (Wilkens) Hahn. He married Patricia Ehlert on March 7, 1959, at Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock. Bob, or “Rags” as he was known to many, owned R.D. Hahn Masonry for 35 years and was known countywide for his workmanship. He had been a volunteer fireman for the Woodstock City Fire Department. He loved to tell stories about his life, some fact, some fiction. His home in the woods outside Marengo was known as the “Hahndarosa.” Bob was an avid Cubs and Bears fan, and he loved the outdoors, his younger days as a sportsman

Clara R. Capaccio, 92, died July 18, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born March 11, 1926, to Martin and Josephine (Hylock) Pejza. She married the late Vito Capaccio on May 20, 1950, in Chicago. Clara was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church for 60 years. She enjoyed being active in the church by running funeral luncheons and helping out whenever she could. She and her husband owned Red Mill Restaurant from 1966 until 1976 and very much enjoyed the people there. Clara loved making scrapbooks and photo albums to celebrate her family’s journeys through life. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. Nancy R. Maynard, 68, of Hebron, died Thursday, July 19, 2018, at her home. She was born Oct. 29, 1949, in Woodstock to Raymond and Margaret (Willig) Kollenkark. She married Harry Maynard on July 15, 1967, in Woodstock. Nancy had worked for Woodstock Confectionary for many years. She was currently with the McHenry County Clerk’s Office, where she had been for the past 25 years. Working for the confectionary gave her a love of all things sweet. Christmas was literally made of candy at her house. She also loved to bake. She was an animal lover and had volunteered with the humane society.
