Ruth Ann Judson Simes Magnuson, 89

Ruth Ann Judson Simes Magnuson, 89, of Woodstock, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at Centegra-Huntley Hospital. She was born in Hebron on July 3, 1929, to Clarence Leo and Jessie Henrietta (Kolls) Judson. She married George Henry Simes on June 11, 1949. After his tragic death in a plane crash in 1978, she married Lloyd Magnuson on May 25, 1996. With her high school diploma from Hebron and one year of teacher preparation at Northern Illinois State Teachers College (today’s NIU), Ruth Ann began her career in 1948 as one of the last one-room schoolteachers in McHenry County at North Dunham School in Harvard. Harry (Tony) Hennen Jr., 78

Harry A. (Tony) Hennen Jr., 78, formerly of Woodstock, Ill., died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, of complications of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) at St. Cloud Hospital in Minnesota. Tony was born in Morris, Minn., to Harry and Rose (Murphy) Hennen. He was a veteran in the United States Army, serving for two years with some time spent in Germany. He was united in marriage to Phyllis (Papineau) in 1964. He completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at University of Minnesota and moved to Illinois in 1971. There he accepted his first position with Motorola, where he worked for 27 years, retiring as a Corporate Vice President. In moving to Woodstock in 1977, he fulfilled a dream of owning a farm with

June Elaine Miller, 87

June Elaine Miller, age 87, of Monroe, Wis., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on June 13, 1931, the daughter of George and Ida (Prehm) Landwehr in Bensenville, Ill. She was a 1949 graduate of Elgin High School in Illinois. June was united in marriage to David F. Miller on Nov. 23, 1951, in Bartlett, Ill. June worked at Elgin National Watch Factory before she was married. After getting married, June and her husband moved to Woodstock, Ill., where they lived from 1952-1976, when they moved to Monroe. June worked alongside David, taking care of their farm. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, and was an excellent cook.

Vernon W. Woellert, 87

Vernon W. Woellert, 87, of Woodstock, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at JourneyCare Hospice Inpatient Unit in Woodstock. He was born in Woodstock on March 9, 1931, to Harry W. and Ella (Gehrke) Woellert. He married the love of his life, Sandra Shulfer, on May 24, 1980, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woodstock. Vernon was a veteran in the United States Army, serving for two years with some time spent in Germany. He was a life member of the VFW Post 5040 in Woodstock. Patricia Rico, 46, of Woodstock, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Mexico on Nov. 12, 1971, to Hipolito and Basilia (Ortiz) Beltran. She completed a certificate in accounting in Mexico. She later met and married Jose Rico on Dec. 26, 1992, in Mexico. Patricia was a loving mother, daughter, wife and friend. She worked as a cook at Hearthstone Communities Assisted Living in Woodstock and enjoyed baking delicious desserts for the residents. Judi Wett, 78, of Washington, Ill., formerly of Woodstock, Ill., passed away at 11:24 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Nov. 1, 1939, in Crystal Lake, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Dagmar (Dalby) Swanson. She married John K. Wett Sr. on Aug. 29, 1959, in Crystal Lake. Surviving are her husband, John; two sons, Michael (Robin) Wett of Aurora, Ill., and Stephen (Alana Mateling Flatley) Wett of Lake Villa, Ill.; two daughters, Andrea (Tim) Brooks of Columbia, Mo., and Jennifer (Brien) Friend of Washington, Ill. Hervey James Warriner

Hervey James Warriner was born on May 29, 1952, to Rachel Jean McIntyre and William Wells Warriner in Freeport, Ill. He passed away at the age of 66 on Oct. 5, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Linda Hamer Warriner; his son, Elias William Warriner; and his niece, Rachel Benell Bednar Blanford of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his sister, Hallie Jean Warriner Bednar, and his parents. Hervey grew up in Belvidere Ill., graduating from Belvidere High School in 1970. He then attended Millikin University-Decatur, where he majored in theater and music, performing with the university choir across the U.S. and Europe. Peggy Stevens Hill, 91, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at Valley Hi Nursing Home in Woodstock, Ill., from complications of pancreatic cancer. Peggy was born on Oct. 11, 1926, to George E. Stevens and Virginia Ray Hook Stevens (both deceased) in Salem, Mo. Peggy grew up in and around Rolla, Mo., which she called home. She attended Rolla High School. She married William Edward Hill (deceased) on July 4, 1946, divorced him in 1968, and never remarried. Peggy had many careers in her lifetime. She worked as a newspaper reporter both in Salem, Ill., and in Rolla, Mo. She was also the church secretary for many years at the First Presbyterian Church in Rolla, Mo. James (Jim) E. Baker, 55, of Woodstock, Ill., passed away on Oct. 5 unexpectedly in his home. Jim was born on Aug. 16, 1963, to Harold E. and Crystal A. (Scott) Baker in Woodstock, Ill. He attended Woodstock High School. Shortly after Jim graduated high school, he started delivering pizzas for Napoli Pizza, where he later ended up buying the business from Dino in 1985. His love for the community was inexpressible. From donations to numerous organizations, always taking care of the first responders, and making sure that all of the schools had food for every event. Lillian S. Behrens, 99, of Woodstock, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at the Valley Hi Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 29, 1918, in Savanna, Ill., to Frank and Sarah (Rath) Ehredt. Lillian grew up in Volo, Ill. She enlisted in the U.S. Army in March of 1942, serving as an RN assigned to the command of Gen. George S. Patton. She served 4 years, including 6 months overseas in the E.T.O. Honorably discharged in February of 1946, she was awarded six Battle Stars and numerous Ribbons. She was a past Commander of the American Legion in Hebron, and a member of the Woodstock VFW. Lillian enjoyed being with her family, and the company of all the family
