Vernon W. Woellert, 87

Vernon W. Woellert, 87, of Woodstock, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at JourneyCare Hospice Inpatient Unit in Woodstock.
He was born in Woodstock on March 9, 1931, to Harry W. and Ella (Gehrke) Woellert. He married the love of his life, Sandra Shulfer, on May 24, 1980, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woodstock.
Vernon was a veteran in the United States Army, serving for two years with some time spent in Germany. He was a life member of the VFW Post 5040 in Woodstock. He worked for 33 years at U.P.S. and was a member of Teamsters Local 710. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woodstock and was a Trustee.
He and his wife loved to travel. He was loved and will be missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Sandra Woellert; a brother, William Woellert; a sister Dorothy (Raymond) Larsen; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Elwood and Richard.
The visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, starting at 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at St. John’s Lutheran Church. 401 St. John’s Road. Woodstock. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Woodstock.
No flowers are requested; a donation to either Diabetes Research or St. John’s Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
