James “Jimmy” B. Sagen

James “Jimmy” B. Sagen, 61, Woodstock, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Centegra Hospital — Woodstock. He was born April 30, 1950, in Monroe Wis., to Paul and Phyllis Sagen. He married Mary Marden Jan. 15, 2005, in Woodstock. He was a veteran, having served in the US Air Force. He worked for the FAA as an air traffic controller. He was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Helen and Clarion Sagen. Survivors include his wife; his son, James L. Sagen; his grandson James J. Sagen; and his stepson, Frankie Herron; as well as many other family members and numerous friends. A visitation was held March 9, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. Gayle Larson

Gayle W. Larson, 71, Platteville, Colo., died March 5, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with cancer. Gayle was born Oct. 5, 1940, in Belvidere, to Willard and Viola Belle (Boomgarden) Larson. He married Shirley Sahs June 24, 1961, in Woodstock. The couple moved to Colorado in 1979 and made their home in Longmont until 1999, then moved to the Platteville area. He enjoyed shooting pool, gardening, riding his bike, attending car shows with his dear friend Gary Wells and was a devoted lover of Ford trucks. He also was very handy around the house. Catherine L. Reynolds

Catherine ‘Cathy’ Lee Reynolds, 64, Davenport, Fla., died March 2, 2012. She was born Jan. 8, 1948, in Lompoc, Calif., to Thomas L. and Mary C. (Welch) Waters and grew up in Quincy. She married Ray E. Reynolds from Beach Park June 12, 1971, having met at Western Illinois University, Macomb, where each earned a master’s degree. They spent more than 40 years living in Oak Lawn, St. Charles and Woodstock before retiring and moving to Davenport in December 2009. They retired in 2005 from Woodstock School District 200. She was an early childhood speech therapist, retiring from Verda Dierzen Early Learning Center. She also worked several years as an audiologist at the Glen Ellyn Clinic and a speech therapist

Leota Olivia Smith

Leota Olivia Smith, 96, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Hearthstone Manor Nursing Home, Woodstock. She was born June 7, 1915, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Charles and Olivia (Bauman) Harrison. She married Russell J. Smith June 4, 1938, in Indianola, Iowa. She was a 1938 graduate of Simpson College, Indianola. She was a devoted wife and mother. She and her husband celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2008. She always was involved in church activities – singing in the choir, playing the piano and organ and serving her Lord in many ways. She was a member of the PEO organization for many years. Judith Ellen Miles

Judith Ellen (Ream) Miles, 72, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at her home. She was a true friend to all who knew her and co-founder of Miles Data Technologies, the family business. Remembered by all who knew her for her caring, kindness and tireless support for others, as well as her laughter and smile, she was active in church, school and business organizations throughout her life. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, William B. Miles; six daughters, Julie Ann (Charles) Riley, Mary Beth (Robert) Ladd, Christine Marie (Gary) Ives, Kathleen Margaret (Stephen) McCarley, Jennifer Ann Miles, and Megan Patricia (Jason) Hahn; a son, Andrew William (Laura) Miles; 17 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Timothy, Colleen, Cara, Brian, Erin, Nora, Jacob, Henry,
