Gayle Larson

Gayle W. Larson, 71, Platteville, Colo., died March 5, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Gayle was born Oct. 5, 1940, in Belvidere, to Willard and Viola Belle (Boomgarden) Larson.

He married Shirley Sahs June 24, 1961, in Woodstock. The couple moved to Colorado in 1979 and made their home in Longmont until 1999, then moved to the Platteville area.

He enjoyed shooting pool, gardening, riding his bike, attending car shows with his dear friend Gary Wells and was a devoted lover of Ford trucks. He also was very handy around the house. His family was the most important thing to him. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, and “papa.”

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cindy (Al Koscheski) Larson Longmont, Colo., and Debby Larson and her best friend, Todd Ray, Platteville; four grandchildren, Shawn Carroll, Tia Carroll, Tylor Gayle Larson and Nicole Depaolo; one great-grandchild, Jayden Bowar; and two brothers, Clifford (Betty) Larson, Kingsland, Texas, and John (Shirley) Larson, Troy, Texas.

A memorial service was held March 10 at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Chapel, Longmont, followed by cremation.
