Theodore P. Spanbauer

Theodore P. “Ted” Spanbauer, 70, Round Top, Texas, formerly of Woodstock, died July 23, 2012, in Austin, Texas. He was born June 5, 1942, in Detroit to Theodore F. and Margie (Kepner) Spanbauer.   On Jan. 7, 1989, he married Susan Voigt in Woodstock. He was raised in Decatur and attended St. Theresa High School.  He graduated from the University of Illinois – Champaign – Urbana in 1967 with a degree in horticulture. He worked at Spanbauer Greenhouse with his father, grandfather and uncle.  The family moved to Woodstock in the early ‘70s, to the Rose Farm.  He was employed with Durbin Stovall Real Estate.  In 1988, he went into horticulture sales with Star Roses. Paula Kohley

Paula Kohley, 43, Woodstock, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Centegra Hospital – Woodstock. She was born Nov. 30, 1968, in Aurora to Richard and Karen (Mielke) Kohley. She was a school bus driver for the Huntley school district for 22 years and a member of the Woodstock Jaycees. She enjoyed working with the kids and being involved in the community.  She also enjoyed scrapbooking.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her loving family, especially her two nieces. Survivors include a sister, Nancy (Bob) Ehrke; and two nieces, Kaylee and Lindsey. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Laura Kohley. Visitation and the funeral were July 30, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock.

Richard C. Anderegg Jr.

Richard C. Anderegg Jr., 59, Woodstock, died July 18, 2012, at his home. He was born March 18, 1953, in Pittsburgh, to Richard C. and Hazel (Fitzpatrick) Anderegg Sr. He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed traveling the country.  He was a longtime softball player and golfer and was a Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed being around his family and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He will always be remembered as being the go-to guy for anyone who needed help or direction. Survivors include his wife, Erin; two sons, Sean Anderegg and Trevor (Grace Montes) Schacht; two daughters, Rachel Novak and Hanna Schacht; three grandchildren, Austin and Lindsey Anderegg and Sydney Wiersum; a sister, Barbara

Gregory Perry Brinkmann

Gregory Brinkmann, 78, Wonder Lake, died Saturday, July 21, 2012, at his home. He was born June 6, 1934, in Chicago to George H. and Ercile Marie (Barber) Brinkmann. He graduated from Proviso East High School, Maywood, in 1952. On Dec. 29, 1956, he married Joyce Liehr, also a 1952 Proviso East graduate, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Melrose Park. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Colorado Springs, Colo., from 1956 to 1958.  After his discharge from the service, he lived in Bensenville before moving to Wonder Lake in 1968.  There he built a home, fulfilling his dream of raising his family on a lake. Shirley A. Conway

Shirley A. Conway, 56, Wonder Lake, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at Hospice of Northeastern Illinois Pavillion, Barrington. She was born Oct. 1, 1955, in Chicago to Sylvester and Harriet (Woldhausen) Reif. On Feb. 5, 2005, she married John F. Conway at Christ Life Church, Woodstock. She loved gardening, her home and spending time with her family and grandchild. She was a good friend to many. She had worked at Ebsco Co. in Cary. Survivors include her husband;  six children, Timothy (Jennifer) Zink Jr., Robert (fiancee Marge) Reif, Katelyn Zink, John Conway Jr., Dana Conway and Kayla Conway; a granddaughter, Trinity Williams; three sisters, Sharon (James) Manka, Nancy (Reed) Ridge and Norine (Ronald) Haftl; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and

Judy A. Creighton

Judy A. Creighton, 66, Woodstock, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at Loyola Medical Center, Maywood. She was born Jan. 1, 1946, in Woodstock, to Uhlir and Marge Thiede. She grew up in Woodstock and enjoyed being a member of Rainbow Girls. She worked for the McHenry County Assessor’s Office. She was active in planning her high school class reunions. Survivors include two sons, David (Jane) Creighton and Scott (Laura) Creighton; her mother; two grandchildren, Brian Puotinen and Alexander Creighton; a brother, Randy (Jeannie) Thiede; and two sisters, Carolyn (John) Justice and Jan (Ken) Winkleman. She was preceded in death by her father and step-father, Joseph Thiede. The visitation and funeral were held July 23 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home,

Roger M. Schiller

Roger M. Schiller, 64, Woodstock, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at his home. He was born July 26, 1947, in McHenry, to Raymond and Doris (Hamil) Schiller. He loved his work as a civil engineer at MWH Global. He also loved music and was an accomplished guitar player, singer and founding member of the music group Hartland Express. He enjoyed photography and gardening. Most of all, he loved spending time with his 26-year-old daughter, Rachel, and being involved with her life, education and evolving career. Rovena M. Marugg

Rovena M. Marugg, 86, Woodstock, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at her home. She was born Nov. 13, 1925, in Christopher, to Henry L. and Vivian (Lathrum) Moody. She loved to paint and work on puzzles. She loved spending time with her family, being with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great grandchild, and cooking for family gatherings. Survivors include her husband, Arthur; two sons, Gregg (Shirley) Marugg and Ralph Marugg; three brothers, Jim Moody  and Richard and Paul Belsley; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Alice Elizabeth Pfeiffer Deethardt

Alice Elizabeth Pfeiffer Deethardt, 89, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, in Littleton, Colo., after a short illness.   She was born in Woodstock to Raymond Peter and Jessie Jewett Pfeiffer.   She graduated from Woodstock High School in 1940 and spent a year at Ferry Hall Girls Preparatory  School in Lake Forest.  She graduated from Northwestern University in 1944.  She was an English teacher at Woodstock High School from 1944 to 1956, and a yearbook advisor for many years.  She was also a secretary of the Woodstock Players summer drama group at the Goodman School, Chicago, and served as an officer of the Woodstock Hospital Auxiliary and the Woodstock Garden Club and was a Red Cross charity volunteer. Pearl K. Schaefer

Pearl K. Schaefer, 101, Woodstock, died Monday, July 16, at Apostolic Christian Resthaven, Elgin. She was born July 14, 1911, in Des Plaines, to John and Florence (Kiemer) Koelling.  On Nov. 19, 1941, she married Rudolph Schaefer in Des Plaines. After graduating high school, she worked for the city of Des Plaines and at one point served as city clerk.   She became a stay-at-home wife and mother and later worked for School District 62 as a secretary until she retired at age 65.  She loved to travel and sing, and she joined the Chicago Bach Chorus, which sang with the Chicago Symphony.  She and her husband moved to the Woodstock area in 1979, and, after the death of her
