Darrell Samuelson

Darrell “Sam” Samuelson, 82, Hebron, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, while in the company of family members at his residence.

He was born  Dec.11, 1929, in Iroquois, S.D., to Melvin and Lauretta (Schumaker) Samuelson.

He graduated from Capron High School in 1947.

On July 11, 1953, he married Margaret Ackerman in Belvidere.

He worked as a carpenter for Builders Unlimited of Richmond for 45 years and retired in 2008. He was a member of Harvard Moose Lodge No.1329, a member of Richmond Lions Club and an avid bowler for many years. He served in the U.S. Air Force, from March 1949 to November 1952, as a staff sergeant during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Vanessa, (Thomas) Tyska, Sharon, Wis., and Susan (Lee Hucksteadt) Hoy, Woodstock; two sons, Dale Samuelson Sr., Springfield, Wis., and Stephen Samuelson, Hebron; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Karen Kremsreiter, Columbus, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was Sept. 7 at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home, Hebron.

The funeral was Sept. 8 at the funeral home, followed by interment at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.
