John C. Wenzlaff

John C. Wenzlaff, 64, Wonder Lake, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at home. He was born July 4, 1949, in Chicago to Helmut P. and Florence (Schult) Wenzlaff.  On Feb. 13, 1971, he married Karen M. Walton in Chicago. He worked for more than 30 years at Matrix IV in Woodstock. He was with Wonder Lake Company No. 2 Fire Department for 13 years. He was a member of the Woodstock Moose since 1992 and an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Most especially, he was a beloved husband, father and wonderful grandfather. Survivors include his mother; a daughter, Regina (James) Millar,  Crystal Lake; two sons, Steven (Elise) Rini, Twin Lakes, Wis., and Christopher Rini, Rockton; five grandchildren, Alexander Millar and Anthony, Samantha,

Aubrey F. ‘Bud’ Kriegermeier

Aubrey F. ‘Bud’ Kriegermeier, 89, Woodstock, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 22, 1924, in High Hill, Mo., to William and Mary (Fenslage) Kriegermeier. He grew up in Moulton, Iowa. He served two years as a Fireman First Class in the Division 6 submarine service in World War II in the South Pacific, and six months in the Atlantic Theatre on Patrol E Scout. On June 28,1945, he married Alice Conn in Kansas City, Mo. He and his wife lived in Runnells, Iowa; Newton, Iowa; Centerville, Iowa; Des Plaines; Unionville, Iowa; and Woodstock. He was an avid sportsman and held the skeet shooting record at Fort Sheridan with 298 out of 300 shots.

Michael J. Parth

Michael J. Parth, 56, Wonder Lake, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at home.  He was born Aug. 17, 1956, in Woodstock to Howard R. Sr. and Celia “Honey” Parth. He graduated from McHenry High School in 1974 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1976. He was stationed in Washington, D.C., and was assigned to the Presidential Honor Guard. He marched with his unit in many presidential events and was proud when he marched in a parade in Boston with his uncle, Anthony Vigliotta, in attendance. He was most recently employed in sales at Woodstock Harley-Davidson and City Lights Harley-Davidson, Palatine. Survivors include two brothers, Howard (Shirely) Parth, Temecula, Calif., and Frank (fiancee Aimee) Parth, Union Grove, Wis.; nieces and

Stanley W. Mavis

Stanley W. Mavis, 93, Milan, formerly of Woodstock, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at Avonlea Cottage, Milan. He was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Ridgefield to Samuel and Belva (Welcome) Mavis. On Oct. 4, 1947, he married Frances “Helen” Mavis in Woodstock. The Rev. Roger Kaufman officiated. He was a World War II veteran who served as a medical technician in the 818th Air Evacuation – a division of the 8th Air Force. He retired from Reliance Tool and Die-Casting in Elgin in January 1994 after 40 years as a tool and die maker. He played on the Simplex baseball team in Algonquin.  He and his wife were members of Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock, for more than 50 years.  He

Dolores J. Polizzi

Dolores J. Polizzi, 86, died Saturday, July 20, 2013.  She was born Sept. 15, 1926, in Chicago to Edward and Alma (Pavasek) Bergman. Her family later moved to a farm in rural Harvard, where she attended King Country School. She graduated from Harvard High School in 1944. She then moved to Woodstock, where she met her husband, Casimer Polizzi. Together, they were part owners for many years of the Polizzi Brothers Food Mart which was located at the “Six Corners Intersection” (intersection of routes 120 and 47) in Woodstock. They were married 62 years until his death in 2011. She worked at Woodstock Autolite until the birth of her first child in 1951.  She later worked until her retirement for

Roland A. Hasselmann

Roland A. Hasselmann, 76,  Juda, Wis., died Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.  He was born Nov. 1, 1936, in Des Plaines to Alvin and Florence (Piske) Hasselmann. He graduated from Maine Township High School in Des Plaines.   He joined the US Army Reserves at age 17, and at age 20, joined the US Navy serving in Japan and Alaska. On Aug. 20, 1960, he married Carol Pierce in Woodstock.   They lived in Woodstock for about 30 years, later moving to Boone County and the Rockford area.  They enjoyed wintering in Florida and volunteering at Christian missions and the local church.   He established a mushroom business in the Woodstock area and

Harriette L. Schmidt

Harriette L. Schmidt, 96, Woodstock, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at JourneyCare Hospice in Woodstock. She was born Dec. 1, 1916, in Chemung, to Samuel and Harriet (Tripp) Stewart. She worked at Woodstock Die Cast Company for 35 years. She loved to read and watch the Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks. She also was a big fan of the Chicago Bulls. Survivors include a daughter, Margo (Schmidt) King; two granddaughters, Claudine King and Kristine (King) Pourroy; two great-grandsons, Matthew Pourroy and Nicholas Pourroy; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Julius Schmidt; two brothers, Milford Stewart and Clarence Stewart; and a sister, Lauretta (Stewart) Kelly. Services were private. 

Maxine K. LeBlanc

Maxine K. LeBlanc, 81, Woodstock, formerly of Carpentersville, died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at JourneyCare Hospice Inpatient Care Unit in Woodstock surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 13, 1932, in Chicago to Verner and Katherine (Sliz) Johnson.   On July 25, 1953, she married Rudy J. LeBlanc. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Carpentersville.   She worked for a time as a secretary for Illinois Bell Telephone Company. She enjoyed doing crafts, painting ceramics and singing in the church women’s choir.   Most of all, she loved being involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Nancy Diane Sabaj

Nancy Diane Sabaj, 70, Woodstock, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at JourneyCare Hospice, Woodstock. She was born Sept. 4, 1942, in Chicago to Randall and Elenora (Salo) Bradley.   On Sept. 10, 1960, she married Dennis F. Sabaj in Chicago. She enjoyed traveling and going on vacations with her family.   She was a fun-loving and caring person with a kind heart and generous soul. Happiness was her first priority, and she made sure everyone else was having a good time, too. She always enjoyed spending time with her loving family and very dear friends. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Denise Cardona and April (Frederick) Libert; a son, Jeffrey (Carissa) Sabaj; five grandchildren, Natalie Cardona, Keehan Sabaj, McKailey Sabaj,

Harriet K. Schultz

Harriet K. Schultz, 93, Woodstock, died Monday, July 22, 2013, at her home in Woodstock. She was born Sept. 17, 1919 in Harvard to Edward and Emma (Schuldt) Knull.   On Jan. 19, 1938, she married Charles B. Schultz at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walworth, Wis. She lived in Woodstock for the past 60 years and spent more than 85 years of her life in McHenry County. She was a factory inspector for the Woodstock Typewriter Company and the Woodstock Die Cast Company. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock since 1954.   She enjoyed fishing, gardening, crocheting and traveling on bus tours with her sister, Janette. She also was an avid Chicago White Sox fan.
