Olive M. Frame

Olive M. Frame, 84, Woodstock, died June 25, 2014, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock. She was born May 9, 1930, to John W. and Agnes (O’Brien) Slavin in Hebron.   On Nov. 19, 1955, she married Wayne G. Frame at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Woodstock.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dominican University, formerly Rosary College, and a Master of Education from Northern Illinois University.  She worked for nearly 40 years in the field of education, employed in the Hebron school district and Woodstock School District 200.  She enjoyed volunteering in Texas at their winter site at St. Francis Xavier and LaFeria Learning Center. Charlene Fern Zimmer Ulanowski

  Charlene Fern Zimmer Ulanowski, 72, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at her home after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer.  She was born and raised in Chicago and was a longtime resident of Woodstock. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Harvard, where she was active in the choir and a member of the Ladies Evening Guild.  For more than 40 years, community theater played a major role in her life. She was on the board of the TownSquare Players, and was a member of the Woodstock Musical Theatre Company and the Woodstock Opera House Council. She was in several productions over the years. Jeanne Louise Thomfohrda

Jeanne Louise Thomfohrda, 73, formerly of Woodstock, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Parmly Life Pointes Nursing Home, Chisago City, Minn. She was born Jan. 21, 1941, to John H. and Hazel (Bentsen) Lockinger in Woodstock.  On Oct. 1, 1960, she married Harry Eugene Thomfohrda. She graduated from St. Mary High School in 1959. While in Woodstock she worked at the A&W drive-in when roller skates were used to take orders and deliver the food. She also worked at Illinois Bell as a switchboard operator and in the accounting office in Arlington Heights. Shortly after marriage she moved to Wisconsin and for 20 years operated a dairy farm. Doris A. Zank

Doris A. Zank, 89, Woodstock, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at her home. She was born Oct. 29, 1924, to Earl and Lila (Vosburgh) Hoffman in Genoa.   On Sept. 14, 1946, she married George G. Zank Jr. in McHenry. She was a member of the Women of the Woodstock Moose and the Silver Manes.  She enjoyed going with the senior citizen groups playing cards, playing bingo, knitting, sewing and crocheting. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and an occasional trip to the casinos. Survivors include a son, Kenneth (Kathleen) Zank; two daughters, Linda (Wayne) Stanek and Lori (Randy) Sarbaugh; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Marilyn A. Winton

Marilyn A. Winton, 68, Woodstock, died Friday, June 13, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock. She was born to Stanley and Virginia (Cielak) Goryszewski on Aug. 11, 1945, in Chicago. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Northeastern Illinois University and a master’s degree from Aurora College. She taught at St. Thomas the Apostle Elementary School and then in Woodstock School District 200 schools for 14 years.  She was proud of her teaching career and was recognized as a Star 105.5 teacher of the month and Who’s Who in America’s Top Teachers. In her retirement, she continued her love of education by working at the Challenger Learning Center for Science & Technology. She was a devout member at St. Mary Catholic

Nina Elizabeth (Betty) Dimond

Nina Elizabeth (Betty) Dimond, 84, Woodstock, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014. She was born Thanksgiving Day 1930 to Albert Baker Dimond III and Nina Elizabeth (Ellis) Dimond in Decatur. She graduated from Lovington High School in 1948 and earned her registered nurse degree from St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield, later earning a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing education from Millikin University in Decatur.  She moved to California and worked at several day care centers.  She also received a Master of Arts in human development from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, Calif. Gordon Carter Gran

Gordon Carter Gran, 79, Wonder Lake, died Monday, June 16, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. He was born Oct. 14, 1934, to Carter and Viola ( Reller) Gran in Chicago.  On Oct. 30, 1960, he married JoAnn Annette Borseth in Chicago. He attended Lane Tech High School and graduated from the University of Illinois, where he studied aviation. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a naval aviator flying reconnaissance missions over the North Atlantic in a Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation. His military service was followed by a long career as a pilot with North Central Airlines, Republic Airlines and Northwest Airlines. Philip P. Meyer, 70, Wonder Lake, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at his home. He was born June 25, 1943, to Fred and Bessie (Tripp) Meyer in Libertyville. On Oct. 6, 1963, he married Martha L. Page. He was a veteran of the Illinois Army National Guard. Formerly of Richmond, he was a resident of Wonder Lake since 1972. He was employed as a batch mixer for Rohm and Hass, a division of Huntsman in Ringwood, for 36 years. Helen Tannus Parnaby

Helen Tannus Parnaby, 89, Rockford, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, in Cary.  She was born March 17, 1925, to Shukri and Mabel (Swanson) Tannus in Burlington, Iowa. On Dec. 23, 1960, she married Richard W. “Dick” Parnaby in Decatur.  She graduated from North High School in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1942, earned a bachelor’s degree from Augustana College in 1947 and a masters’ degree from the University of Illinois in 1958. She was a social worker whose career began in the 1940s. Most recently, she was director of social services at Woodstock Memorial Hospital and a home health social worker in Rockford. Tige Charles Schmeer

Tige Charles Schmeer, 41, formerly of Woodstock, died Monday, May 5, 2014, in Borrego Springs, Calif. He was born Feb. 18, 1973, to Karl G. and Gail E. Schmeer, in Woodstock. He spent the majority of his life in and around Woodstock and had recently moved to southern California from Sharon, Wis. He attended Woodstock schools and was an accomplished musician, vocalist, artist and tradesman.
