Hildegard B. Munguia Ortmann

Hildegard B. Munguia Ortmann, 82, Wonder Lake, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at JourneyCare Hospice Inpatient Unit, Woodstock.

She was born  Jan. 24, 1932, to Walter and Anna (Lazinski) Binder in Brazil. 

She came to America in 1960 and worked as a nanny and with maintenance at IMC.  She loved caring for children, especially her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was born and raised on a farm and had lived on several farms throughout her lifetime which sparked her passion for gardening, raising animals and cooking.  She was a marvelous cook, perfecting many old family recipes and serving them to her loved ones.

Survivors include her faithful companion, Baltus Ortmann; three children, Michael (Tammy) Ortmann, Luise (Ken) Pohlmeier and Eric Ortmann; five grandchildren, Joseph McMillan, Katie McMillan, Olivia Pohlmeier, Ryan Ortmann and Rebecca Ortmann; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Gertrude Vrstovak, Helena Horn, Herta Madlung and Ana Bruaw; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Elize Horn; and two nephews.

All services were private.

Arrangements were made by Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home.
