Alice Mae Wilcox

Alice Mae Wilcox, 94, Woodstock, died Friday, July 11, 2014, at JourneyCare Hospice, Woodstock.

She was born June 30, 1920, to Robert James Elder Low and Viola Mae (Beatty) Low in Ringwood. 

On Oct. 9, 1946, she married Walter E. Wilcox in Greenwood.

She was a longtime member of the McHenry County Historical Society.  She worked as a seamstress for many years, tailoring the uniforms for the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office among countless other articles of clothing and sewing projects.  

She loved sewing for her many nieces; this included several wedding dresses as well as several apricot bridesmaid dresses.  She also enjoyed baking.

Survivors include a brother, Robert (Susan) Low; a sister, Doris Cristy; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband March 9, 2009; and a brother, Walter Low.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock.  The visitation will continue at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 17, until the funeral at 11a.m.  

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
