Clarence P. Stackhouse

Clarence P. Stackhouse, 88, rural Woodstock, died at home Wednesday, April 15, 2015, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born Dec. 30, 1926, to Ralph and Clara Stackhouse in Geneva, Iowa. On Dec. 30, 1947, he married Joyce E. White at her parents’ home. He farmed in rural Woodstock all his life. He also worked as a custodian at Marengo High School for more than 20 years. Survivors include his wife; three children, Jane (Ray) Kastning, Richard (Joyce) Stackhouse and Steven (Linda) Stackhouse; eight grandchildren, Michael Kastning, Lori (Mike) Miles, Richard (Jessica) Stackhouse Jr., Jennifer (Scott) Wolf, Kristina (Willie) Seager, Scott (Shawn) Lehman, Keith (Lisa) Lehman and Michelle (Steve) Polizzi; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Eugenia Pearl Mansfield

Eugenia Pearl Mansfield, 88, Tomah, Wis., formerly of Woodstock, died Friday, April 10, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones at Tomah Hospital. She was born July 26, 1926, to Nils Edwin and Petra Malmstrom on a farm in Bull Valley. On May 17, 1947, she married the love of her life, Albert Mansfield Jr. She was a graduate of Woodstock High School and started her working career as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell. She spent the majority of her work life, however, in the medical field, at Kishwaukee Valley Medical Center and Memorial Hospital, Woodstock.  She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tomah and a past member of the Woodstock VFW Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order

Anna Rybaruk

Anna Rybaruk, 95, Aurora, formerly of Woodstock, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the Alden of Waterford Nursing Home, Aurora. She was of Ukrainian descent, born on May 12, 1919, to George and Henrika Miz in Lvov, Poland. After relocating to Austria as a deplaced person, she studied pharmacy before coming to America in 1950 with her parents and daughter Christine to live in Chicago. She moved to Woodstock in 1952 after marrying Petro Rybaruk. She worked with her husband at Hinner Rose Farm for several years. She then worked for Guardian Electric until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her cats. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. Survivors include a daughter, Christine Chawgo;

Robert D. Tompkins

Robert D. Tompkins, 78, Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Woodstock, died July 5, 2014, in Arizona. He was born Jan. 24, 1936. Survivors include his wife, Donna (Birk); two sisters, Hylah Pollock, Nampa, Idaho, and Gladys Keenen, Lowell, Ark.; and three sons from a previous marriage, Dean, Duane and Danny Hummell, all of Kane County. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Grace Lutheran Church, 1300 Kishwaukee Valley Road, Woodstock. Arrangements were made by Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, Glendale, Ariz. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Margaret I. Maire

Margaret I. Maire, 78, Crystal Lake, formerly of Woodstock, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at The Fountains, Crystal Lake, with her family by her side. She was born April 13, 1936, to David and Loretta (Schoonover) Metcalf in New Auburn, Wis. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Thomas Maire; four sons, Paul Maire, Bloomer, Wis., David Maire, Crystal Lake, Robert (Cynthia) Maire, Woodstock, and Thomas (Kathy) Maire, Bellville, Wis.; four grandchildren, Jenna Maire, Cally Maire, Noelle Maire and Caden Maire; three sisters, Janice Schimmel, Elaine (Ron Shields) Stuckert, Susan (Gary) Nehring; three brothers, Edward (Sandra) Metcalf, Bruce (Pat) Metcalf and Stephen Metcalf; and many nieces and nephews. Gary W. Reed, 67, of Kailua, Hawaii, formerly of Woodstock, died Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Kailua Hospital with his wife by his side. All arrangements are pending. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Frances B. Sugden

Frances B. Sugden, Woodstock, formerly of Wilmette and Winnetka, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, in Woodstock.   She was born Ida Frances Bourland June 8, 1923, to Frederick Bailey and Rachel (Mitchel) Bourland in Peoria.   During her high school years, the family moved to Wilmette.  She attended New Trier High School, followed by Northwestern University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in speech science.  She followed with master’s degrees in speech science and deaf education, as well as a Fellowship for a master’s degree in audiology. Joan C. Lowe

Joan C. Lowe, 85, Woodstock, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Valley Hi Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 2, 1929, to Oscar and Marion (Curtis) Anderson, in Chicago.   On June 5, 1954, she married Frank Lowe. Survivors include a son, Trace Lowe; two daughters, Kathryn (Mike) Nelson and Janice Kee; a step-son, Steven Schrodt; five grandchildren, Allison Grice, Daniel Kee, Eric Kee, Lauren Kee and Matthew Nelson; two great-grandchildren, Autumn Gorecki and Ayden Grice; and a sister, Joyce Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and eight brothers and sisters. All services will be private. Memorials can be made to JourneyCare Hospice, 405 N. Virgil R. Smith

Virgil R. Smith, 90, Woodstock, died Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Valley Hi Nursing Home.  He was born June 30, 1924, to George D. and Myrtle E. (Ebinger) Smith in Aurora. On Sept. 17, 1949, he married Jean Ann Trego, in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. He grew up on his parent’s dairy farm in Oswego and graduated from East Aurora High School. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps from Nov. 19, 1943, to Sept. 28, 1945, and he earned a bachelor’s degree from Cornell College in 1949. Edward G. Kipple

Edward G. Kipple, 83, Woodstock, died Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Centegra Hospital – Woodstock. He was born Feb. 24, 1932, to Edward F. and Clara (Glover) Kipple in Oak Park. In 1950 he graduated from Lutheran Institute High School in Chicago. He was employed at Paraplegics Manufacturing Co. for 17 years before moving to rural McHenry County in 1968.  He then worked for Oak Industries in Crystal Lake for 17-1/2 years as a printing operator and mail clerk before retiring in 1987.
