Edward G. Kipple

Edward G. Kipple, 83, Woodstock, died Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Centegra Hospital – Woodstock.

He was born Feb. 24, 1932, to Edward F. and Clara (Glover) Kipple in Oak Park.

In 1950 he graduated from Lutheran Institute High School in Chicago. He was employed at Paraplegics Manufacturing Co. for 17 years before moving to rural McHenry County in 1968.  He then worked for Oak Industries in Crystal Lake for 17-1/2 years as a printing operator and mail clerk before retiring in 1987.

He was active in auxiliary police work for 30 years. In Addison, he achieved the rank of captain. He joined the McHenry County Auxiliary in 1973 and graduated as a sheriff’s deputy in 1975. In 1984, he received an award for meritorious service from Sheriff Henry Nulle. He also served with the McHenry County ESDA for the same number of years. He received the Volunteer of the Year Award from the McHenry County ESDA in 1990 and from the Illinois ESMA in 1991. He was a member of the McHenry County Deaf Awareness Club and served as the treasurer and trustee for several years.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake.

The visitation and funeral were held March 27 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Entombment was at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock.

Memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Lutheran School for the Deaf, or to the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.
