William R. Nordlof

William R. Nordlof, 75, Huntley, died Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. He was born Aug. 9, 1939, to Ragnar W. and Florence (Sulvan) Nordlof in Chicago. On Aug. 22, 1964, he married Virginia Schneider in Holland, Mich. He served in the U.S. Navy.  He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake. He was the owner and CEO of Aeronautical Electric, Chicago. He was an award-winning photographer. He loved to travel across the country by car, especially with his children and, later, with his grandchildren. He admired the beauty of the United States, believing it best seen by car. David S. Dunlap

David S. Dunlap, 79, Rockford, died peacefully at his home following a valiant two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. After his August 2013 diagnosis, he resolved to live every remaining day of his life to the fullest. He was born in Elgin and raised in Woodstock, the oldest of four children of Robert Joseph and Carol Dunlap. On Sept.13, 1980, he married Flora Mann Bauman. He graduated from Woodstock High School in 1954 as a highly competitive athlete, lettering in five different sports and playing on an American Legion baseball team. He attended Cornell College, Mt. Mark D. Reinier

Mark D. Reinier, 42, Sugar Grove, died suddenly at his home, Saturday, July 11, 2015. He was born Nov. 11, 1972, to Dennis and Sherrell (Albright) Reinier in Niles. He graduated from Maine West High School and then went to trade school to become a plumber. He was a member of Union Local 93 and most recently worked for Atlas Plumbing, Grayslake. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; three children, Justin, Brooke and Savanna Reinier, Woodstock; two stepchildren, Troy and Taylor Moss, Sugar Grove; his parents, Woodstock; and three siblings, Kathy (Dave) Burgin, Woodstock, Michael Collins, Franklin, N.C., and Steve Collins, Mt. Gilead, N.C. Services were held at Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove.

Caroline P. Barry

Caroline P. Barry, 82, Woodstock, died Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Centegra Hospital – Woodstock, with her family by her side. She was born Aug. 24, 1932, to Frank and Kathryn (Behlke) Urban in McHenry. On May 26, 1951, she married Walter R. Barry in Woodstock. She lived in Woodstock for most of her life. She worked as a certified dietary manager at Sunset Manor, now Hearthstone Manor, in Woodstock for 25 years. Her faith, the Free Methodist Church in Woodstock and spending time with her loving family and friends were most important to her. She was an amazing cake decorator and enjoyed needlework, crocheting, gardening and playing cards. She is survived by three daughters, Penny (John) Johnson, Peggy (Chris)

Lester F. Guenther

Lester F. Guenther, 89, Rockton, died Monday, July 6, 2015. He was born Sept. 2, 1925, to George L. and Elsie (Lemke) Guenther in Morton Grove. On June 21, 1947, he married Ruth Glade at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Palatine. He was a 1943 graduate of Palatine Township High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. He served as an engineer aboard the USS Renville (APA 227). On April 1, 1945, his LCVP crew was among the landing troops for the battle of Okinawa. He farmed in Schaumburg and then in Woodstock for 30 years. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church during his years living in Woodstock. He also was employed as a DeKalb Ag Seed rep

LaDonna A. Oberhelman

LaDonna A. Oberhelman, 83, Mesa, Ariz., died Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Banner Baywood Hospital, Mesa. She was born Feb. 15, 1932, to Helen (Wolf) and Charles Beyer in Miltonvale, Kan.  On June 17, 1950, she married Robert Ernest Oberhelman in Clay Center, Kan. They celebrated their 65th anniversary this year. She and her husband started a family in Clay Center and then moved to Woodstock, where they raised their two children. She loved life and was involved in many activities and organizations in Woodstock. She worked at the S&H Green Stamp Store and was a teller at Amcore Bank (First National Bank) for 23 years. She was an active member of Rainbow Girls of St. Mark’s Lodge #63, Woodstock. 

Edwin Charles “Bud” Fringer

Edwin Charles “Bud” Fringer, 90, Woodstock, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at his home.  He was born Oct. 24, 1924, to Charles and Lulu Fringer.  On July 31, 1948, he married Victoria Zahradka . By trade, he was a meat cutter for more than 40 years. He was a self-taught radio and television repairman. A hard worker even after he supposedly retired, he taught many about his trades throughout the years.  He loved cribbage, scoring one perfect 29. He enjoyed gardening and time spent with family and friends. He led by example, teaching his children and friends. He loved having family around him. Agnes Gertrude Hay

Agnes Gertrude Hay, 88, Woodstock, died Thursday, June 25, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born July 13, 1926, to Nicholas and Elizabeth (Brown) Diedrich in Johnsburg. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. She volunteered in the Adoration Chapel at the church and led the rosary at Valley Hi Nursing Home. She was employed at Buckley Cleaners, Woodstock, for 25 years and was well-known as a seamstress, doing sewing and alterations from her home for 45 years. She enjoyed gardening, but mostly she enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include five children, Leonard (Sandra) Hay, Tennessee, Ronald Hay, Woodstock, Susan Hay, Woodstock, Mary (Ricardo) Rodriquez, Woodstock, Donald Hay, California; four grandchildren, Nicholas Rodriquez,

Brian Martin Carolan

Brian Martin Carolan, 23, Wonder Lake, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 21, 2015.  He was born March 25, 1992, to Martin and Susan (Ohlrich) Carolan in Woodstock. He attended Westwood Elementary School, Greenwood Elementary School and Northwood Middle School. He graduated from Woodstock High School. He had a special talent in music and guitar. Wanting to be a music teacher, he took music prep classes at McHenry County College. Following graduation, he gave guitar lessons and entertained in many restaurants. While growing up, Brian enjoyed sports, playing Wonder Lake baseball and soccer and Northwood football. He was a Tiger Cub, Cub Scout and Boy Scout. Zachery Taylor Brokaw

Zachery Taylor Brokaw, 20, Woodstock, died tragically Saturday, June 20, 2015, the result of an automobile accident.  He was born April 9, 1995, to Myron and Diane (Stock) Brokaw in Barrington. He attended Greenwood School, Northwood Middle School and was the Woodstock North High School Class of 2013 salutatorian. From a very young age he had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and excelled academically. While at Woodstock North he served as president of the National Honor Society, played trombone in the band and was a member of the track and cross-country teams. He had just completed his freshman year at Carleton College, Northfield, Minn., where he had been designated as a William Carleton Scholar in recognition of his outstanding scholarship,
