Kurt A. Myers, 54, Woodstock, died Sunday, May 26, 2013, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 1, 1959, in Woodstock to Jack and Karen (McNeese) Myers.   On Aug. 22, 1987, he married Vicki Schmidtman in Woodstock. He was a quality control technician and worked for Union Special for more than 32 years.   He was a Chicago sports fan and especially liked to watch Chicago Cubs games.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing  and traveling.  His family’s lake house in Wisconsin was one of his favorite places to visit.   He  also liked to coach children in Little League as well as softball, and watching his son bowl also was  something he cherished. Norma Helen Johnson, 94, Woodstock, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Centegra Hospital – McHenry.  She was born May 30, 1918, in Woodstock to Leon and Marguerite (Schmelzer) Schryver.   She was married to Kenneth Raymond Johnson. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Woodstock, and worked at the Woodstock Auto-Lite Factory during World War II.  She was a family-oriented person, and her home was open to relatives and friends. She enjoyed gardening and doing crossword puzzles in her spare time. Arline A. McNett, 91, Woodstock, died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at her home. She was born May 27, 1922, in Huntley, to Chris W. and Alice (Benson) Klabunde. She married Edward L. McNett Nov. 12, 1946, in Woodstock. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock for more than 50 years. She was a dedicated member of the Altar and Rosary Society at the church for more than 15 years.  She was an active member of the Woodstock VFW Auxiliary; and a volunteer with the McHenry County Historical Society. Dolores E. Martinez, 85, Crystal Lake, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.    On Aug. 10,1946, she married Leonard Martinez in Chicago.  She moved to Algonquin with her family in 1957. She and her family started Leonard and Sons Building Services in 1966. She retired in Florida in 1988 and moved to Crystal Lake in 2012. Bryan G. Barry, 41, Harvard, died Monday, May 27, 2013, in Walworth, Wis.  He was born Oct. 26, 1971, in Woodstock to Walter and Doris (Nells) Barry.  He worked at Jim Olson Collision Center in Woodstock and loved the outdoors. He will be missed by many who loved him.  Survivors include his wife, Ruby; his parents; a son, Tayler; two sisters, Robin (Rich) Knapik and Lynette (Tim) Ashmore; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Nell; a niece, Brittany Knapik; a nephew, Michael (Kelly) Knapik; and a great-nephew Konner Knapik.  Visitation was May 30 and 31 at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. The funeral was May 31. Burial was at McHenry County Memorial Park.

Kenneth Glenn Gabel, 90, McHenry, formerly of Wonder Lake, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Fox Point Manor, McHenry. He was born Aug. 2, 1922, in Evanston to Harry A. and Lydia (Manthie) Gabel.  On Sept. 6, 1947, he married Betty Jean Fiala. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He received three Bronze Stars and the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, and he  had achieved the rank of corporal at the time of his discharge. Michael J. Kelly, 87, Woodstock, died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born July 9, 1925, in Flint, Mich., to George and Elizabeth (Dollohan) Kelly.   He married Marietta F. McLoughlin. He was a veteran and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was decorated with the Air Medal from General Dwight D. Eisenhower for showing bravery in saving the lives of his crew. He was founder and chairman of the board of Kelco Industries and a renowned industrialist, author and philanthropist. Lorraine Fejedelem, 91, Wonder Lake, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at home. She was born Jan. 19, 1922, in Chicago to John and Alice E. (Ofenloch) Tolemy. On April 7, 1939, she married Edward E. Fejedelem in Chicago. She was a resident of Wonder Lake since 1964. She was a longtime member of Nativity Lutheran Church,Wonder Lake, and taught Sunday school until she was 82 years old. She was Mrs. Claus at the Nativity Christmas bazaar for 20 years and was involved in many other Nativity events. She participated in many community activities and was a member of the Memory Maker/Story Tellers, the Wonder Lake Senior Citizens Club, the McHenry Senior Center and the Young at Heart Travel Club. Louise Schmarje, 92, Hebron, died Saturday, May 18, 2013, at JourneyCare Hospice Inpatient Unit, Woodstock. She was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Burlington, Wis., to Gustav A. and Meta A. (Pallatz) Spitzbart. On April 11,1942, she married Robert Charles Schmarje.  She was a member of Nativity Lutheran Church, Wonder Lake, and worked, lived and raised her family on farms in Woodstock and Hebron. She loved gardening and enjoyed growing flowers.  Most of all, she loved being with her family, her children and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed.  Survivors include a son, Laverne Schmarje; three daughters, Linda (Richard) Wappler, Anita Schmarje and Diana Schaefer; six grandchildren, Kenneth, Dale, Scott, Heather, Lisa and Kelly; and

Frederic E. Rachford, 81, Woodstock, died Thursday, May 16, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock. He was born June 12, 1931, in Chicago to George and Mary (Mulhern) Rachford. On July 5, 1952, he married Kathleen Hayes in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 until 1955. He was pilot for United Airlines for 36 years until he retired in 1991. He was an avid White Sox fan and enjoyed playing baseball, softball, hockey and working out at the McHenry County College gym.
