Lorna Mae Stull

Lorna Mae Stull, 85, Woodstock, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014. She was born Nov. 21, 1928, to Nicholas St. Clair and Mae (Davidge) Tennant in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.   On Nov. 29, 1952, she married Gary George Stull Sr. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her love and her life. She also loved reading and watching sports on TV, but most of all, she loved watching and rooting for her grandchildren and their friends as they competed in football, basketball and baseball.  She was known by the players and fans as “Mom,” “Grandma,” “Grandma Thunder” and “Grandma Darling.”  She could be seen and heard cheering from the bleachers or sidelines at every game.  She genuinely loved everyone she met, and

Leonard D. “Dude” O’Leary

Leonard D. “Dude” O’Leary, 92, Woodstock, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at The Golden Years of Walworth, Walworth, Wis. He was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Marengo to Daniel and Mary (Kanaly) O’Leary. On June 15, 1946, he married Charlene Krohn. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving for 37 months during World War II.  He was a partner of the O’Leary Construction Company, and was a life member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 68 years; two sons, Timothy (Carolyn) O’Leary, Woodstock, and Michael (Debra) O’Leary, Woodstock; a daughter, Tina (Mike McEvoy) O’Leary, Crystal Lake; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, James O’Leary; and several nieces and nephews. Barbara Ann Svenningsen

Barbara Ann Svenningsen, 59, Crystal Lake, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014. 

She was born Sept. 22, 1954, in Elgin to Albert and Mary (Buzas) Svenningsen. 

 She was active with the Pioneer Center in McHenry for many years and learned how to live, independently. She loved the music of the 50s, The Wizard of Oz (where she identified with the Wicked Witch of the West), and Halloween. She was an avid crafter and card player. She was an advocate for people with handicaps and disabilities. After her death, she was a donor for Gift of Hope. 
 
Survivors include her uncle, John (Nell) Buzas, several relatives and close friends.

Lucille A. Wolf

Lucille A. Wolf, 92, Woodstock, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock. She was born Aug. 28, 1921, to William B. and Emma (Zimmerman) Bernhardt in Woodstock. On May 10, 1941, she married Harold L. Wolf in Woodstock. She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock. She was a long-time member of the Woodstock Moose. She enjoyed cooking, baking and playing cards with family and friends. Her family would like to thank the Fountains and Valley Hi Nursing Home nurses and staff for the loving care they gave her. Charlotte Sobczyk

Charlotte Sobczyk, 87, Woodstock, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014. She enjoyed having her family together for home-cooked meals, and she was a gambler. Survivors include four children, Deborah (James) Skozek and David (Kathleen), Christine and Mark (Joyce) Sobczyk; five grandchildren, Rebecca (Michael) Swenson, Jessica (Wesley) Escondo, Michael Skozek, Maura and Olivia Sobczyk; and four great-grandchildren, Jannelise, Alexander, Evelyn and William.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Arthur; and six brothers and sisters. Visitation  was Jan. 21 at Cumberland Chapels, Norridge. The funeral Mass was Jan. 22 at Our Lady Mother of the Church, Chicago, Interment was at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Chicago.

Ralph G. Hartmann

Ralph G. Hartmann, 85, Sister Bay, Wis., died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014. He was born Jan. 25, 1928, in Oak Park to Werner and Esther Hartmann. On Sept. 17, 1949, he married Vivian Mae Reek. He was a graduate of the Chicago Art Institute. He was a member of Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church and a long-time member of the Sister Bay Lions Club, and was awarded the Melvin Jones Award. His love and passion were art, music and family. He and his wife were owners and operators of Hartmann Sign Studio for 40 years. Survivors include a son, Donald J. John J. Grasser Sr.

John J. Grasser Sr., 55, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Centegra Hospital- Woodstock. He was born Nov. 19, 1958, to Lloyd and Michiko (Ogata) Grasser in Woodstock. He worked at Brown Printing in Woodstock in the IT department. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and he enjoyed reading. Mostly he loved his time spent with his family. He will be remembered as a loving and caring person. Survivors include a son, John Grasser Jr.; two sisters, Anna Grasser Rehorst and Kathryn (Jay Berman) Margason; nieces and nephews, Michelle Rehorst, Jaclyn (Chet) Haas, Joseph (Melissa) Margason, Jacob Margason and Nicklaus Berman; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-niece,

Warren Arley Hager

Warren Arley Hager, 82, Woodstock, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at St. Luke Hospital, Milwaukee, Wis. He was born July 24, 1931, in Union to Leon Arley and Alma (Thomas) Hager. On July 8, 1961, he married Joan Michels in Elkhorn, Wis. He was a 1949 graduate of Woodstock High School.  He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He farmed in the Hartland area all his life and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Wayne Hager and Kevin (Kim) Hager; a daughter, Kimberly (Richard) Schleiger; six grandchildren, Chad (Samantha), Andrew, Antonio, Katelyn, Caleb and Joel; and two sisters, Deloris (Glenn) Hildebrandt and Evelyn (Tom) Stock. He was preceded in death

Agnes Hinderlider

Agnes Hinderlider, 77, Woodstock, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014. She was born Jan. 19, 1937, in Czechoslovakia. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Gerald; three sons, William, Michael (Karen) and Larry Hinderlider; four grandchildren, Marcus (Brittany), Jill (Charlie), Michael (Melissa) and Kristin (Patrick); and three great-grandchildren, Lorin, Aubrey and Emma. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings and a daughter-in-law, Lori. Visitation and funeral were Jan. 13 at Resurrection Catholic Church, Woodstock. Arrangements were made by Davenport Family Funerals.

Santo L. Ruggero

Santo L. Ruggero, M.D., 91, Wonder Lake, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, in McHenry. He was born Jan. 24, 1923, to Lucio and Maria (Cutaia) Ruggero in Chicago. On Jan. 4, 1947, he married Mary A. Kiss at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He attended Loyola University, the University of Chicago and the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola. He interned at Cook County Hospital and practiced family medicine in Chicago. In 1950 he began his family practice in Wonder Lake, continuing to serve the community until 1991. He was an active staff member at Memorial Hospital for McHenry County from 1950 until 1991 where he was chief of
