James Robert MacGilvray

James Robert MacGilvray James Robert MacGilvray, 78, Woodstock, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, in Elk Grove Village. He was born April 4, 1936, to James P. and Mary Katherine (Andrews) MacGilvray, in Morrison.  On Sept. 17, 1960, he married Paula J. Bush at St. Kilian Church, Chicago. He was a University of Notre Dame alumnus. He was employed at Harper-Wyman Co. in Princeton. The company promoted and transferred him to Mexico for four years and then to Venezuela for two years. He returned to work in the United States in 1971. From 1976 to 1987, he worked for Brake Parts in McHenry, then for Chicago Rawhide in Elgin for two years and, from 1989 to 2001, for the Camcar Division

Elisabeth “Lisa” D. Kelly

Elisabeth “Lisa” D. Kelly, 69, Woodstock, died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at JourneyCare Hospice Inpatient Unit in Barrington. She was born Feb. 22, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Arthur and Lina (Greene) Dougan. She grew up in the Cleveland area and graduated from the Laurel School. She went on to attend Northwestern University and graduated with a philosophy major. She was an active member at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, serving on many boards including the Vestry as a junior and senior warden. In the Woodstock community, she worked as a journalist for the Northwest Herald and The Woodstock Independent. She was a member of the Rotary Club of Woodstock and served as president of the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce. She

Leona M. Moritz

Leona M. Moritz, Woodstock, died suddenly Monday, May 26, 2014, in her home. She was born Nov. 24, 1935, to Harry and Margaret (Miles) Schroeder. On April 7, 1956, she married David Moritz at the rectory of St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. She and her husband spent most of their married lives as dairy farmers in the Woodstock area. Survivors include two sons, Raymond (Gloria) Moritz, Genoa, and Ronald (Sherrie) Moritz, Woodstock; two brothers, Harry (Patricia) Schroeder and Thomas (Sharon) Schroeder; two grandchildren, Mark and Paige Moritz; a special niece, Linda (Larry) O’Donnell; and two sisters-in-law, Gert (Robert) Moritz and Anita (William) Stecker. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Harold Schroeder; and a brother-in-law,

Rosemary C. Evanoff

Rosemary C. Evanoff, Woodstock, died Friday, June 6, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family and friends.  On April 19, 1952, she married William Evanoff in Tiffin, Ohio. She truly loved life. She began her love for children at an early age when she and her mother started a foster home in Tiffin for foster children, nurturing them until they were placed in loving homes. She never met a child she didn’t love.   Her passions were family togetherness, cooking, baking cookies, quilting, sewing, gardening, preserving and canning. Most important to her were her seven children, 54 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her favorite expression was “Sit down and let me get you something to eat.”  Her devotion to the Lord

Edward Wallace Lucke Sr.

Edward Wallace Lucke Sr., 86, Woodstock, died Friday, May 30, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 21, 1928, to Charles Bahan and Lois (Wallace) Lucke in Albany, N.Y.  On June 17, 1950, he married Ellen Vedsman in New York City. They had two children, Edward and Laura.  After the death of his first wife, he married Cynthia Pearson May 21, 1988, in Park Ridge. They had three children, Catherine, Kimberly and Richard. He attended the Albany Academy as a cadet. He attended several colleges including Yale, where he was a track athlete, Columbia and the Colorado School of Mines, receiving several degrees including a Master in Engineering. He worked for US Gypsum Co.,

Maurice R. Harrison

Maurice R. Harrison, 92, Woodstock, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at his home. He was born Aug. 5, 1921, in Kansas City, Kan., to Joseph and Marie (Mege) Harrison.  On Sept. 22, 1944, he married Billye Katherine O’Hanlon in Sherman, Texas. He was a veteran, serving in the Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, bird watching and taking long hikes. He loved to listen to classical music and enjoyed a good martini.  Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn (Don) Campbell; a brother, Jack (Gloria) Harrison; four grandchildren, Andrea (Rich) Debartolo, Terri (Reymundo) Quezada, Don (Darlene) Campbell and Scott Campbell; 13 great-grandchildren, Richie and Nicole Debartolo,

Margery ‘Marge’ Jane O’Hara

Margery “Marge” O’Hara, 65, Woodstock, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, at her home in Woodstock surrounded by her loving family . She was born Feb. 20, 1949, to Valleau H. and Margaret I. (Moyer) Ayers in Brooklyn, N.Y. Her professional career was dedicated to United Airlines.  She was an active lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Woodstock, where she ministered to the congregation as its financial secretary for the past 10 years. Survivors include a son, Joshua; a daughter, Jennifer (Bartek) Korzeniowski; six siblings, Richard (Shirley) Ayers, Susan Ayers-Krause, Val (Lynda) Ayers, Valarie (Russell) Lyday, Liz (Jan) Stewart and Isabel (Scott) Fisher; 12 nieces and nephews; and 16 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents

Frank J. Schmuck

Frank J. Schmuck, 60, Woodstock, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 24, 1954, to Nicholaus and Maria Schmuck in Austria. He came with his family to the United States when he was 3 years old. On Nov. 30, 1974, he married Valerie Wahl in Woodstock.  He co-owned Service First In Transportation with his wife. He had a great sense of humor. He loved to spend time with his family. He was a very caring, fun, hardworking man. He loved playing guitar, music, being outdoors, gardening, horseback riding, scuba diving and had a very special love for animals. Gertrude E. ‘Kay’ Diederich

Gertrude E. ‘Kay’ Diederich, 96, Wonder Lake, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at JourneyCare Hospice in Woodstock with her daughter by her side. She was born Sept. 19, 1917, to George B. and Elise (Schow) Hesbol in Chicago.  Always proud of her Norwegian heritage, she was also a proud first-generation American. A summer resident of Wonder Lake from 1939, she and her family became year-round residents in 1953.  She was employed at Sears in Chicago for nine years, where she was a manager in retail sales.  After moving to Wonder Lake, she owned and operated Kay’s Gift Shop in Wonder Lake from 1953 until 1986.  In 1987, she began working at Jewel in Crystal Lake, where she greeted customers at

Cynthia A. Thomfohrda

Cynthia A. Thomfohrda, 64, Woodstock, died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at her home. She was born Oct. 31, 1949, to George A. and Barbara (Schroeder) Loser in Chicago. On May 23, 1991, she married Willard “Woody” Thomfohrda in Woodstock. She graduated from McHenry High School in 1968. She worked for more than 20 years at Town Tap, Woodstock, as a bartender and manager. She also worked at Eagle Food Stores and Swiss Maid Bakery in Woodstock. She enjoyed camping, baking and canning. She was loved and will be missed. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Barbie (Charles) Braden, Diane Ange and Deborah Wagner; three brothers, George N. (Lorraine) Loser, Steven (Kathi) Loser and Leonard (Holly) Montcalm; a sister, Kathleen Heber;
