Jessica Marie Avila, 36, Woodstock, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at her home. She was born June 8, 1978, to Joseph and Lindy (Davis) Ehardt in Harvard.  On April 5, 2006, she married Martin Avila in Woodstock.  She attended Woodstock High School and was a member of The Church of Holy Apostles, McHenry. After high school, she worked at Angelo’s Restaurant, Woodstock, before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Her greatest joy was raising her family. A loving mother, wife, daughter and sister, she will be remembered as a thoughtful and kind-hearted person who was always all about family.  Survivors include her husband; five children, Petra, Martin Jr., Juan, America and Jesse; her father, Joseph (Wendy) Ehardt Sr.; a sister, Melissa Ehardt;

Gracia Elizabeth Gutel Beck, 98, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at Hearthstone Village.  She was born July 4, 1916, the only child of Theodore Gutel and Martha Moore Gutel, in Odell.  She attended public school in Odell. While in high school, she met and would later marry the love of her life, Warren (Bud) Beck.  After high school, she attended Illinois State College, Normal, where she earned a two-year teaching certificate from the state of Illinois. She began her teaching career, and her fiancé enlisted in World War II. Jean Frances Cooney, 91, Woodstock, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, in Woodstock. Jean was born Sept. 25, 1923, to Walter F. and Florence (Callinan) Conway in Woodstock.   On Feb. 2, 1957, she married Leo F. Cooney at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. A lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church, she graduated from St. Mary Grade School and St. Mary High School.  She graduated from St. Mary College of Notre Dame, class of 1944.   She was a home economist for Northern Illinois Gas Company for 25 years, retiring in 1979.  She was an accomplished organist and will be remembered for her many years of providing wonderful music at the Woodstock Elks Lodge and many other local establishments. Maryann H. Winkelman, 88, Woodstock, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock. She was born Sept. 9, 1926, in Muscoda, Wis., to John and Florence (Boch) Gies. On June 2, 1945, she married Harold Winkelman at St. Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Hartland.  She worked for Woodstock School District 200 Transportation Department for several years.  She was always very active at her home, assisting with all the chores associated with running a family farm.  She was a family-oriented person, always putting her family first.  Survivors include her husband; a son, Kenneth (Jan) Winkelman Sr.; a daughter, Debbie (Rick) Labaz; six grandchildren, Kenneth (Katie) Winkelman Jr., Gail (Sean) Anuskewicz,

Arthur Gordon Marugg, 93, Woodstock, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at his home. He was born Dec. 13, 1920, in Forest Park to Oscar and Josephine (Dewar) Marugg. On April 28, 1950, he married Rovena Moody. He served in the 12th Armored Division of the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe. He was a member of the American Legion in Belvidere. He loved working in his garden and shared his knowledge with anyone. Survivors include two sons, Gregg Marugg and Ralph Marugg; a brother, Richard (Wilma) Marugg; a sister, Teen Ehlers; and 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on July 19, 2012; and a daughter, Debra Estrada.

Tasha N. Pina, 30, Woodstock, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock. She was born April 16, 1984, to Dave and Robin (Wright) Tratnik in Houston.   In December 2009 she married Walter R. “Rich” Pina in Woodstock. She graduated from Dundee Crown High School.  She worked for UPS and then at Flocon Inc. in Cary where she served as a quality-control inspector.  She always wanted to travel to Japan because she loved Asian culture.  She was a huge Bruce Lee fan and enjoyed watching Kung Fu movies.  She also enjoyed horror movies.  She loved writing and was great at training dogs, especially her dog, Charlie.  Most of all she was a loving wife and mother. David W. Cole, 71, Woodstock, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry surrounded by his family. He was born July 28, 1943, to Ervin and Carolyn Kurth Cole in Chicago.  On June 13, 1987, he married Margaret C. “Marge” Dethloff at Camp Napowan, Wild Rose, Wis. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an active leader with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 153 for more than 50 years.  He  also was active with the Illinois Railway Museum, Union.  He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge and the Woodstock Snowmobile Club.  He loved old Farmall tractors and Dodge trucks.  He also loved the outdoors and camping.  He played Santa Claus on

William “Bill” Henry Vinehout Jr. 78, Woodstock, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at his daughter’s home after a long illness. He was born in Rutland, Vt., the first son of William Henry Vinehout and Anna Frances (McGuire) Vinehout. During his childhood, he and his family lived in New York.  He joined the U.S. Air Force shortly after turning age 17. After the end of the Korean War, he was stationed at Yokota Air Force Base in Japan, where he worked as a medic in a tactical hospital. Serving in the Air Force was an important part of his life, and he referred to it often. In 1957, he married Lt. Diane Frenier. He later graduated from Hudson Valley Technical Institute

Gerald L. Beckus, 83, Woodstock, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at James A. Lovell V.A. Hospital, North Chicago. He was born Sept. 10, 1931, to Gerald A. and Louise Mine (Hougham) Beckus in Oak Park. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Woodstock. He worked in sales for the newspaper industry. He was active in the Woodstock community as past commander of the VFW,  Rotary Club,  AMVETS, American Legion and the Jaycees. He also enjoyed being involved at the Woodstock Opera House. Survivors include a daughter, Jeralyn (Chuck) Forcier; and three grandchildren, Jake, Jenna and Olivia Forcier. He was preceded in death by

Eleanor Wilkens, 94, Woodstock, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014. She and her husband raised their family on their Woodstock farm, now known as the All Seasons Apple Orchard. Survivors include a son, Terry (Donelda). An informal memorial service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at the All Season Apple Orchard, 14510 Route 176, between Sunnyside and Gee roads.  Arrangements were made by Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, Crystal Lake.
