Lynda Sue George, Woodstock

Lynda Sue George, 68, Woodstock, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, after a short illness. She was an amazing woman who put her family above all else. She raised four strong children, almost all by herself, teaching them about God and His grace, a grace that loved us so much that He allowed His only Son our Lord Jesus Christ to die so we can all be reunited together again one day, giving us the greatest hope of all.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren, teaching them crocheting, puzzles and how to whistle. And she shared her love for Christmas tree decorating with them.   Survivors include four children, Rinda (Dave) Gersch, Debra Johnson, Rebekah (Eric) Beck and Robert (Stephane)

Sharon Chonos, 81, formerly of Woodstock

Sharon F. Chonos, 81, Riverview, Fla., formerly of Woodstock, died, Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, with her family at her side. For the last 18 years she resided in Florida after retiring from the auto industry. She spent the last years of her life enjoying being a grandmother. Survivors include a son, Darrin (Mandy); two daughters, Susan (Mark) Balmer and Kimberly (Matt) Simpson; six grandchildren, Michael, Benjamin and Matthew Chonos, Joshua and Tyler Simpson and Lily Balmer; and a brother, Jack Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Donald. The family will hold a private service.  The family extends thanks to LifePath Hospice. Bobby Ray Smith, 61, McHenry

Bobby Ray Smith, 61, McHenry, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, at the William S. Middleton VA Hospital, Madison, Wis. He was born Dec. 22, 1954, to Grover and Vernie (Ward) Smith in Greeneville, Tenn.  On Aug. 23, 2003, he married Sandra Merryfield in McHenry. He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1976. He worked at Eagle Foods for more than 30 years. He was loved by many for his awesome and entertaining personality. His love for life was shared and celebrated around many campfires and cold beers with friends. He enjoyed old cars and old Western movies. Joy D. Pahl, 80, Woodstock

Joy D. Pahl, 80, Woodstock, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at her home surrounded by family. She was born Feb. 23, 1936, to Joseph and Eleanor (Pfeifer) Vesely in Cicero.   On Feb. 26, 1955, she married Rudolph E. Pahl in Berwyn. She was a longtime resident of Woodstock. She attended Morton High School and was crowned Miss Morton of 1953, her senior year.  After raising her family, she worked for Woodstock School District 200 in the printing department, and later in life she taught water aerobics at the Woodstock Recreation Center and Healthbridge. Mary McCormack, 90, Woodstock

  Mary Virginia McCormack, 90, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016, surrounded by her loving and grateful family. She was born July 5, 1926, to George Arthur Lang and Aileen Anna Faherty in Chicago. On Sept. 12, 1953, she married Dr. Joseph McCormack in Chicago. She led a full life of unwavering devotion to faith, family and community. She grew up working in her father’s corner grocery store on Kostner Avenue. She graduated from Siena High School in 1944. She attended Mount Mary College, Wauwatosa, Wis., where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. She went on to teach at Tennyson Elementary School in Chicago. She was among the first summer staff to re-open Yellowstone National Park following its closure during World War II. Dr. Frank J. Johnson, 100, Formerly of Woodstock

Dr. Frank Richard Johnson, 100, Frankfort, formerly of Hinsdale and Woodstock, died Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Homesteader, Benzonia, Mich. He completed his undergraduate work at Beloit College and the University of Chicago and earned a medical degree from Northwestern University School of Medicine. Honoring a commitment to the U. S. Navy, he served as an officer in the Navy Medical Corp during the Korean Conflict, serving aboard the USS Buckner, USS Greely and heavy cruiser USS Los Angeles. Upon separation from the Navy in 1954, he settled with his family and established his pediatric surgical practice in Hinsdale. He served as attending physician at several Chicago-area hospitals including Rush Presbyterian St. Luke, Children’s Memorial, LaGrange Memorial and Hinsdale. He

Jennie Lynn Bye, 45, Huntley

Jennie Lynn Bye, 45, Huntley, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2016. She was born Nov. 29, 1970, to Dale and Connie (Streit) Bye in Woodstock. She played college softball at MCC and ISU and obtained several scholarships toward her education.  She was also an excellent volleyball player.  She received a bachelor’s degree from ISU, majoring in law and criminal justice. With this knowledge, she went on to specialize in real estate investment properties and became a mortgage loan officer.  But her real role in life was being a mother. For years, she enjoyed coaching her daughter’s softball team and took time off work to raise her son. She was a loving and selfless person with the strength and determination to accomplish

Arthur R. Legnaioli, 74, Woodstock

Arthur R. Legnaioli, 74, Woodstock, died Thursday, July 28, 2016, at JourneyCare Inpatient Hospice Unit -Woodstock.  He was born Sept. 14, 1941, to Oscar and Winnifred (Olsen) Legnaioli. On May 23, 1964, he married Judy Stanek, in Wooddale.  For 33 years he worked as a mail carrier in Des Plaines. After retiring from the post office, he worked at Pinecrest Golf Course. He enjoyed trap shooting and hunting and was a member of the Woodstock Gun Club. He was a golfer. He loved attending sporting events that his family was involved in. He was loved and will be missed.  Survivors include his wife; two sons, Brian (Sherry) Legnaioli and Brad Legnaioli; a daughter, Brenda (Patrick) Grisolia; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan)

Marjorie M. Carle, 97, Woodstock

Marjorie M. Carle, 97, Woodstock, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Valley Hi Nursing Home. She was born May 15, 1919, to Robert and Rosemund (Garland) Schwass in Des Plaines. On Oct. 12, 1940, she married Elmer Carle in Des Plaines. She attended Maine Township High School and Elmhurst College.  She was the manager of the national award-winning classified department at the Arlington Heights Herald in Arlington Heights. She later served as secretary and personal assistant to Stuart Paddock. She was also an excellent artist with a talent for painting landscapes and a flair for portraits, which she painted well into her 80s. Margaret Hrncar, 80, Woodstock

Margaret Hrncar, 80, Woodstock, died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Hearthstone Manor, Woodstock, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jan. 17, 1936, to Fred and Bernice (VanRiemsdyk) Solms in Chicago.  On Oct. 26, 1957, she married Stephen Hrncar. She graduated from St. Bernard’s School of Nursing in Chicago. She began her career at Woodstock Memorial Hospital and discovered a passion for emergency-room nursing. She was an avid reader and lover of books and a member of the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family. Survivors include four children, Denise Hrncar, Stephen (Carol) Hrncar, Diana (Steve) Raney and Michael (Valerie Lang) Hrncar; five grandchildren, Katrina Steadman, Stephanie (Dan) Christensen, Joshua Farrell (Terry Teele), Abigail (Eric) Guzman and Amber (Josh Sainor) Raney; five great-grandchildren,
