Barry Goldberg, 74, Woodstock, died Monday, March 27, 2017, at Hearthstone Manor, Woodstock. The funeral was March 30, at  Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodstock. Cheryl Hare, 58, died unexpectedly Friday, March 17, 2017, at her home in Crystal Lake.  She was born July 11, 1958, to Kenneth and Inga Moline in Chicago.  Survivors include a daughter, Ryan (Nick) Schmidt, Walworth, Wis.; a granddaughter, Madison; a grand-niece, Kaylynn; a grand-nephew, Nolan; a nephew, Charlie Moline; two  brothers, Craig Moline and Keith Moline; and a sister, Barb Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Kyle Moline.

Velda “June” Gannon, 83, Woodstock, died Sunday, March 19, 2017, in Oshkosh, Wis. She was born June 3, 1933, to Loran and Ida (Gulgren) Crummer in Woodstock.   On Sept. 6, 1952, she married Harold E. “Mike” Gannon in Woodstock. She was a 1951 graduate of Woodstock High School, and was employed at the Schultz Brothers Department Store in Woodstock. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Woodstock.   She enjoyed crocheting and swimming. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and many friends. Sara J. Walkington, 92, Woodstock, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Dec. 16, 1924, to Kenneth and Althea (McLaughlin) Tuttle in Woodstock.   On July 2, 1944, she married Glenn F. Walkington at Greenwood Methodist Church. She worked for many years as a medical librarian for Woodstock Hospital. After retirement, she and her husband sold their home in Woodstock and moved to Green Valley, Ariz. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, crocheting, playing cards and doing crossword puzzles. She was also an avid reader. But, most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family, especially her children and grandchildren. Ralph L. Foss, 77, Woodstock, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, peacefully in his sleep at his home. He was born June 13, 1939, to Stanley and Louise (Wisniewski) Foss.  On Oct. 7, 1967, he married Anell Iovino in Chicago. Ralph was first and foremost a family man. He married the love of his life. Family meant everything to him.  He was a national handball champion and an avid sports fan. He was an advocate of working out daily and healthy eating. He loved cooking for family get-togethers, and he cherished spending time with his granddaughters. Geraldine “Geri” R. Kyle, 86, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., died peacefully, Jan. 25, 2017, at the Cocquina Cottage, South Daytona, Fla., surrounded by her granddaughter, Marcy, and friend Jared, along with her grandson, Joseph, and his wife Christy. She was born Sept. 30, 1930, to Elsie and Kenneth Krull in Woodstock. On Jan. 15, 1949, she married James “Hap” R. Kyle. Bette J. Brown, 76, Woodstock, died March 11, 2017, at her home. She was born July 22, 1940, to Clifford and Helen (Pease) Stock in Belvidere. On Oct 1, 1960, she married Ronald H. Brown in Woodstock. Bette was a member at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Woodstock. She was employed for many years at the State Bank of Woodstock. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels and the Clothing Closet, Woodstock. She enjoyed cross-stitching and reading. She enjoyed going to her children and her grandchildren’s special events. She was loved and she will be missed. Roger R. Smessaert, 73, McHenry, died March 6, 2017. He was born July 18, 1943, to Raymond and Betty Smessaert, in Chicago. Roger worked as an engineer for ComEd for many years. He had a passion for trains and enjoyed the Illinois Railroad Museum, Union. He was the type of person who would do anything for anyone, exhibiting kindness and generosity. He loved walking his dog, Toby, but most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Scott (Tiffany) Smessaert; four grandchildren, Austin, Alex, Alyssa and Ayden; six siblings, Jerry Smessaert, Jane Murrell, Jackie Smessaert, Ann Daghestani, Mary Smessaert and Kathy Liljeberg; and many nieces and nephews. Michael Adler, 77, Woodstock, died March 6, 2017, at his home in Woodstock. He was born Feb. 26, 1940, to Richard and Sylvia (Brickman) Adler in Chicago. Mike had many interests and joys in his life. He was an artist, inventor, writer, designer, architect, astronomer and philosopher. He was a passionate golfer, but much to his disappointment never sank a hole in one. He was a loving father to his two sons Jay and Reed Adler, and is also survived by his adopted sister, Valerie, and by many other close family members. John William Hoeflich, 86, East Dundee, formerly of Mountain Home, Ark., Woodstock and Chicago died March 4, 2017. He was well-loved and a contributor to the lives of many.
