Betty M. Thiede, 91

Betty M. Thiede, 91, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec.7, 2018, at Valley Hi Nursing Home in Woodstock with her family by her side. She was born in Chicago on April 4, 1927, to Loyd and Pearl (Allen) McCannon. When the Depression hit in 1929, she moved with her family back to Woodstock to be raised on a dairy farm. She attended the University of Illinois for one year before coming home to be a legal secretary for Hugh Deneen and Vette Kell. After that she started at the McHenry County Courthouse, where she worked for 29 years becoming the secretary of the McHenry County Board. She enjoyed being in McHenry County’s political circle. Terry Michael McNeese, 73

Terry Michael McNeese died at Peppi’s Hospice Home in Tucson, Ariz., on Nov. 24, 2019. Terry battled Stage 4 lung cancer for three years with courage and fortitude through many rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. He was continually surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Belvidere, Ill., on June 17, 1945. Terry attended Marengo High School and upon graduation entered the United States Air Force from 1964-1968. Terry met his wife, Gretchen Saladin McNeese, in 1969 while Gretchen was attending Northern Illinois University. The two were married Aug. 15, 1970. In 1970 Terry owned and operated Beard & Stovall on the Woodstock Square with his partner Rich Mann. Terry later became sole owner of Beard & Stovall

Robert Schnulle, 77, of Woodstock, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at his home. He was born Oct. 8, 1941, in Woodstock to Lester and Vera (Hildebrandt) Schnulle. He married Gail Selzer. Bob had worked for Althoff Industries for 31 years. He went to work for Associated Electrical in 1990, where he stayed until his retirement in 2001. He was an avid sports fan, and loved the Chicago Cubs and the Indianapolis Colts. He loved spending time with his family, and watching his grandkids grow up. Nancy O’Donnell Schuette, 59

Nancy O’Donnell Schuette died in her home on Nov. 21, 2018. She suffered a cerebral venus thrombosis on Oct. 23, 2018. After a long and valiant fight, and through many complications, Nancy passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born Nancy Elizabeth O’Donnell in Chicago, Ill., on March 10, 1959. Nancy attended Woodstock High School and went on to study at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill. She earned a bachelor’s degree in special education, and she subsequently earned a master’s degree in education from Aurora University in 2008. Nancy met her husband, John Schuette, at MacMurray College in 1977. The two married on Aug. 3, 1985. They went on to have four daughters: Claire, Madeline, Bridget, and Olivia.

Judith (Judi) M. Sova, 73

Judith (Judi) M. Sova, 73, of McHenry, Ill., passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018. Judi was born on Jan. 16, 1945, to John Wood Sr. and Mildred Wood (née Allen). She spent her early life in Mexico, New York, married Bruce Sova, and they moved to Illinois. Judi was employed at Precision Twist/Sandvik until her retirement. Her pleasure in life was spending time with her family and friends, her cats, watching Westerns, M&M characters, and everything Elvis. She enjoyed visiting her family in New York as often as possible. Born: Dec. 16, 1956 Died: Nov. 22, 2018 Gary J. Aavang, 61, of Greenwood, passed away at home on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, of cancer. He was a life-long resident of Greenwood Township, born in Woodstock on Dec. 16, 1956, the son of Rodney and Libbie (Barber) Aavang. He graduated from Woodstock High School in 1975 and attended McHenry County College. He married Michele DeYoung on July 27, 1998, in Woodstock. He was a longtime member of McHenry County Farm Bureau and McHenry County Fair Association, serving on the boards of directors for both organizations at different times. Erin Davis, 21, formerly of Woodstock, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, in Lafayette, Ind. She was born May 4, 1997, to Michael and Vicki (Hansell) Davis. Erin attended Woodstock High School until 2016, after which her family moved to Detroit, Mich., then to Lafayette, Ind.. Erin was attending Purdue University at the time of her passing. Erin’s passion was helping and caring for animals of all like. She enjoyed the time she worked with HAHS located in Woodstock, Ill. She also enjoyed many exciting extrusions with family and friends across the U.S. and Canada. If you knew Erin, you know how her smile and laugh would light up the darkest of room. Nancy Williams, 77

Nancy Williams passed from this earth surrounded by a full house of family and friends on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at her home in Woodstock, Ill. Nancy was born March 23, 1941, in Burlington, Wis., to Verne Pacey and Lillian (Graunke) Pacey (Gaylord). She married Daniel R. Williams on March 29, 1958, in Woodstock. He preceded her in passing on Sept. 2, 2008. Nancy worked as a machine operator for Plaspros in Woodstock for many years, before retiring in 2003. Nancy loved taking care of the flowers around the house. She also found joy in mowing the lawn. Holidays were a favorite time of the year, as she loved to cook for everyone. Carl Edward Mick, 89

Carl Edward Mick, 89, died at his home Oct. 20, 2018, following a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born April 20, 1929, at home in Hillcrest, Columbiana County, Ohio, to Eugene and Beatrice (Klavuhn) Mick. On June 7, 1958, he married Diane (Hagie) in Woodstock. They had three children. He was an Army veteran. He worked various heavy construction projects throughout the U.S., including the Illinois Tollway. He was a machinist for 5 years at Harnischfeger Corp., 34 years at Union Special, and, following his retirement, several years at Harmony Manufacturing. Carl enjoyed his leisure time relaxing, watching favorite TV shows, playing golf, traveling, volunteering at Gettysburg National Military Park, and most importantly supporting his children and grandchildren

Joyce Ann Roberts 86, formerly of Woodstock, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2018, at Northwoods Care Center in Belvidere. She was born Feb. 23, 1932, in Chicago to Carl and Anne (Collison) McWherter. She married Rhys Roberts on March 3, 1951. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Woodstock, and was also a Women Of the Moose in Woodstock. She is survived by two daughters, Katie (Ken) Spoerlein and Deb (Norm) Carlson; also many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, David Roberts; a brother, Al; and a sister, Sue.
