Joseph P. Sullivan Sr., 89

Joseph P. Sullivan, Sr., age 89, of Wonder Lake, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at Crystal Pines. He was born March 26, 1929, to the late Ray and Helen (née Esford) Sullivan. On Nov. 3, 1962, he married the love of his life, Patricia Jean (nee Cristy), at Christ the King Church, Wonder Lake.
Joseph was a lifelong real estate agent in Wonder Lake and was a 50-year member of the National Association of Realtors. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Woodstock Hospital Board, and the Harrison School Board of Education. Joseph’s faith was extremely important to him. He was a strong believer in the power of prayer. More than anything though, Joseph was extremely proud of his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Joseph is survived by his loving children, Joe (Kathleen) Jr., Janet (Jack) Carran, and Rich (Jenni) Sullivan; dear grandchildren, Mike (Jaime), Steve (Katie), Tanya (James), Stephanie (Mark), Patrick, Erin, Molly, Riley, and Ryan; and cherished great-grandchildren, Alex, Jackson, Cade, Blake, Reese, and Emilia. He is further survived by his sisters, Catherine Stilling and Anne Sowers; and son-in-law, Rick (Doreen) Berndt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Patricia; daughter, Mary Lee Berndt; and brother, Charles.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5006 E. Wonder Lake Road, Wonder Lake. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Roman Catholic masses in his name may be offered or to Boys Town, 14100 Crawford Street, Boys Town, NE 68010.
