Rosalie E. Lauerman, née Haas, died peacefully on April 24, 2023, in McHenry at the age of 81. Rosalie is survived by her husband, David; children, Kurt D. Lauerman of Frisco, Texas, and Thomas A. Lauerman of State College, Pa; as well as four grandchildren, Thomas D. Lauerman of San Francisco, Charlotte Lauerman of Frisco, Texas, Marcella Lauerman of State College, Pa., and Felix Lauerman of State College, Pa. Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur M. and Loretta M., née Bechtoldt, Haas, and her sister Joanne Mueller, née Haas. Rosalie was born on July 2, 1941, in Mascoutah, Ill., to Arthur and Loretta Haas. She graduated from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, in 1963 with a Bachelor of

Bonnie Rachel Masslich McConnell, 92

Bonnie Rachel Masslich McConnell was born on June 12, 1930, in Highland Park, Ill., and grew up in Woodstock. She passed away peacefully at home on April 17, 2023. She attended Knox College before finishing her bachelor’s degree in elementary education at the University of Illinois. She married David A. McConnell and they settled in East Dundee, Ill. She and Dave had a true partnership: together they raised their family, worked to build a veterinary practice, and enjoyed their many interests, especially enjoying a meal with loved ones, travel, and land stewardship.  Everybody called her Bonnie. The perfect hostess, for decades her home was the center of family reunions for Independence Day, outdoor Thanksgiving, and countless gatherings with family and

Janet Lea Bell, 90

Janet Lea Bell, 90, of Woodstock, passed away on April 9, 2023, surrounded by family and loved ones after a short battle with cancer at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington. Janet was born to Andrew and Molly Johnson on April 3, 1933, in Stillwater, Okla. She married James “Jimmy” Bell on April 22, 1956, and moved to the Chicago area in 1968. Janet worked at Harrison School in Wonder Lake for 31 years as secretary to the superintendent. With her hardworking, supportive, and calm demeanor, she made many lifelong friends at Harrison, including her closest friend and “partner-in-crime,” Dorothy. Dorothy and Janet got together often through the years and were known to take off on trips up to Ho-Chunk Casino in

Henry Hardy Sugden III, 73

Henry Hardy Sugden III, 73, of Woodstock, passed away on March 31, 2023, at his home in Woodstock surrounded by his family. He was born on May 10, 1949, in Evanston to Henry H Sugden II and Ida Frances (Bourland) Sugden. On Sept. 5, 1981, he married Mary E Burke at St .Mary Catholic Church, Woodstock. Hank attended The Joseph Sears School, Kenilworth, and was a 1967 graduate of New Trier High School, Winnetka, where he was a member of the wrestling team. Along with his family, he attended The First Congregational Church, Wilmette. An active member of Wilmette Troop 2, Boy Scouts of America, Hank earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1966. Alice Nulle, 91

Alice was born in Woodstock on May 29, 1931, to Emil and Birdie Schroeder and was a graduate of Woodstock High School. She was the first switchboard operator in the old Courthouse when the switchboard was first installed in 1952, working at the County Clerk’s office 1947 to 1955.  She married Henry A. Nulle on Sept. 5, 1956, at St. Charles, Ill. He passed in 2007, and they enjoyed life together for over 51 years. He was sheriff of McHenry County 1980 through 1986. Alice also worked at Pure Oil Co., Memorial Hospital, Flowerwood, and was a bailiff in the 19th Judicial District for 12 years.  She had been a long-time member of St. Ann’s Church, serving as church school

Ricky Lee (Rick) Goins, 70

Dr. Rick Goins (Ricky Lee Goins), beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on March 31, 2023, at the age of 70, in Barrington at Journey Care Hospice Center. Rick was born on March 30, 1953, in Woodstock to his parents, Robert and Lois (Johnson) Goins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kelly Jo. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Evie); his three sons, Cody (Molly), Wyatt (Miranda) ,and Lucas; his two grandchildren, Eugene Goins and Violet Goins; his sister, Debra Sue Varga; and nieces and nephews. Judith Ann Kunzie (Gustafson), 82

Judith Ann Kunzie (Gustafson), of Woodstock, passed away on March 27 at the age of 82, just four months after the passing of her husband, John. Born Nov. 19, 1940, in Chicago, Judie was the daughter of Edwin and Iola (Lindberg) Gustafson. She grew up in Northbrook, Ill., with her parents and her brother, Don.  While a single mother raising two sons and a daughter, she met John on a blind date. He fell in love immediately, and even though he accidentally burned a hole in her stocking with his cigarette ash, she gave him a second chance. John had two daughters from a previous marriage. Walton ‘Walt’ Rosquist, 80

Walton “Walt” Rosquist, 80, of Woodstock passed away Wednesday, March 8, at Northwestern Medicine, Woodstock. He was the son of Nels and Bernadette (Marcotte} Rosquist. Walton grew up in the Antioch area and graduated from Antioch High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany. In 1978 he married Linda Blank in Crystal Lake. He was employed at Flowerwood in Crystal Lake, where he started as a floral designer, became a manager and part owner over a 40-year career. After retiring from Flowerwood, he and his wife were partners in Golddigger Perennials, Woodstock, selling wholesale to garden centers in Northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. His favorite vacations were spent near lakes in northern Wisconsin and Kentucky and beside the

Patricia ‘Trish’ (Dirrenberger) Frank, 72

Patricia “Trish” (Dirrenberger) Frank, 72, passed away in Olathe, Kan., on March 3, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Trish was born in Woodstock on Dec. 27, 1950, to Loran and Theresa Dirrenberger. She was the middle of three children and throughout her life maintained close relationships with her siblings despite living miles apart. On May 29, 1987, she married Werner Frank and together they created a life in Daytona Beach, Fla. While living in Florida, Trish was an avid golfer who enjoyed daily walks and singing with Sweet Adelines. She was a dedicated employee and friend of The Heart Group, where she worked as the front office administrator before retiring in 2013. Following retirement, Trish relocated to Kansas, where

Marian Noles, 85

Marion Noles passed away peacefully March 6, 2023, in Crystal Lake. He was born July 5, 1937, in Lynchburg, Tenn., to Jasper and Grace Noles. On Sept. 5, 1959, he married Mary Ann Clinge in Ridgefield, Ill.  Marion drove a semi for Sunrise Cartage for 38 years before retiring in 1999.  Marion is survived by his daughter, Pam Noles; siblings, Margie Graham, Betty Hill, Linda Benson, and Shirley (Danny) Perry.
