Richard J. ‘Dick’ Menzel, 90

Richard J. “Dick” Menzel, 90, of Hartland, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024 surrounded by his family.  Dick was born on June 18, 1934 in Woodstock to John and Theresa Menzel. He met the love of his life Margaret “Peggy” Hallisy at St. Mary’s School. While away at Boys State in High School, Richard wrote to Peggy every day and always ended the letters with “P.S. Behave Yourself and I’ll be glad to get home.” Dick and Peggy got married on July 4, 1953 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock.  Dick spent many years running Menzel Skelly Service Station in Woodstock.  Wanting to keep the family involved, he had his father, John, on the payroll as a mechanic,

Margaret E. Hahn, 84

Margaret E. Hahn, affectionately known as Peg, Peggy, or Maggie, born July 19, 1940, Greenwood, Illinois, to Wilbur and Florence Griswold. She passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024, in Marengo, Illinois. Margaret was a devoted mother to her four children: Trent (Venerella) Hinkle, Lance (Tamara) Hinkle, Gwynne Rehaste, and Jeni (Ed) McBride. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Ashley (Hinkle) Dray and Zachary Dziekan and was a proud great-grandmother to Aiden, Sophia, and Melody. Margaret is survived by her siblings, Tom (Alice) Griswold, Beverly (Ken) Francis, Nancy (Marvin) Cairns, and Rita (Bill) Rudzena, her cousin Margaret Allen and numerous nieces and nephews. Loren William Hopper, 86

Loren William Hopper, 86, of Woodstock, IL, passed away at home on Monday, August 19, 2024 surrounded by family.  He was born on July 4, 1938 in Woodstock, IL to Milton E. and Florence (Thompson) Hopper.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1957.  He married Darlene M. Larsen on October 24, 1959.  Loren was self-employed as an insurance agent with IDS and Prairie Farmer, worked at Union Special, and was on the Greenwood Cemetery Board for 21 years. He enjoyed spending time at their cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and winters in Ft. Myers, Florida for 12 years.  They loved the cruises that they went on with their friends. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Hopper;

David “Bubba” Andes, 58

David “Bubba” Andes, 58, of Woodstock passed away on Thursday August 22, 2024 at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry. He was born in Woodstock on January 11, 1966 to Bill and Judy (Larson) Andes. He worked for Curran Construction Company on the road crew for 30 years. David loved the arts, painting many pictures. He worked on one piece that took 4,000 hours to complete. He loved going camping and fishing. He went to Woodstock Community High School, where he played football and was on the state championship team. Kelly R. Camp, 73

Kelly R. Camp (Coach Camp), 73, of Harvard, entered eternal rest on August 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Harvard on March 1, 1951, to Robert and Joan Camp.  He married Pamela Pagles on July 28, 1973, and rejoiced at celebrating 51 years of marriage.  Kelly was the beloved husband of Pam, the loving father to David Camp (Nicole Larsen) and Brian (Jennifer) Camp, the very proud grandfather of Drew and Kendall Camp and he loved Mason, Martin and Anthony as his own. He was the dear brother to Lana (Scot), brother-in-law to Jim (Linda) Pagles, brother-in-law to Susan (John) Schwartzbauer, nephew to Dolly Carbonetti and Betty Garey, uncle to Jonathan, Joshua, Keith, Kari, Kylie

Bryan Charles Dahm, 36

Bryan Charles Dahm, 36, of Woodstock IL, passed away Saturday August 17th 2024. He was born December 30th 1987 in Woodstock, IL. Son of Christopher and Ellen Dahm, brother to Jen and Phil. On April 5th 2019 Bryan married Cindy Colosi in Playa Mujeres Mexico. Together, Bryan and Cindy welcomed children Jack in 2020 and Laura 2021. Bryan will be remembered by the countless friends he made, family he loved and memories he created with them all. There was no question about who Bryan was, he held his beliefs close and wore them proudly. He was full of life and lived each day to the fullest.  A proud dad, you could often find Jack or Laura on his lap. Bryan

Sharon Barger, 78

Born Sharon Elaine Heuerman on Jan. 3, 1946, in Oregon, Ill., she spent her childhood under the loving guidance of her parents Ailt and Lila. She was the middle of five siblings, all of whom remember a life where a good work ethic and compassion for others were important. Sharon attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and later transferred to Northern Illinois University, where she earned her degree

John Alton Kise, Jr., 55

John Alton Kise, Jr. passed away on Aug 10, 2024. He was born on April 2, 1969 in Hinsdale, Illinois to John (Jack) A. Kise, Sr. and Karen A. Kise and was the youngest of three children with two older sisters Elizabeth and Mearl. He was raised in Woodstock where he resided most of his life. He was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Blue Island, Illinois. He was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Woodstock. As a child he liked to ride his motorcycle around the old farm fields near the Todd Woods area of Woodstock. He was also active in Boy Scouts and loved camping. He learned to play the guitar with Eunice Mast. He attended Woodstock

Sondra Emma Flood, 86

Sondra Emma (Wilke) Flood, age 86, died peacefully in her home on August 10, 2024. Sondra was born on December 31, 1937, in Blue Earth, MN. She grew up in Chicago, was an alumnus of Luther North High School, and married the love of her life, James (Jim) Flood in 1963. Sondra was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who loved gardening, travelling, and hosting friends and family. She also participated in numerous local organization and charities including: president of Woodstock Welcome Wagon; Woodstock Garden Club; Woodstock Memorial Hospital’s Women’s Auxiliary, co-managing their local gift shop; and president of Woodstock Fine Arts Association. Sondra was proceeded in death by her husband James Francis Flood; parents, Arthur and Bernice (Anderson) Wilke;

Alice Marilyn Buchholz, 96

Alice Marilyn Buchholz (nee Heinrich), 96, died peacefully on August 2, 2024 in Long Grove, Illinois. She was born in Chicago on August 24, 1927, to the late William and Frances (nee Sauer) Heinrich, and was preceded in death by her husband John Buchholz and brothers John (Alice), Norman (Elenore), Bob (Diane) and Lee (Barbara) Heinrich. She was the devoted mother of Jane (Michael) Griffin and Jill (Donald) Minner; loving grandmother of Jason (Jackie Curran) Griffin, Alison (Justin Freiberg) Griffin, Mark (Anna Niehaus) Minner, and Courtney (Erik) Johnson; cherished great grandmother of Emerson, Audrey-Rose, Rowan and Brennan Griffin, and Henry Johnson; beloved sister to Marilyn (Joe) Weiland and Judy Georgias (Al Thomale); several dear cousins; adored aunt to many nieces
