Jerry Wilcox, 73, Woodstock, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, in Medford, Ore., after a battle with amyloidosis. He was born July 9, 1941, to Paul and Ethel Wilcox in Woodstock. In 1961, he married Joyce Kubian. He graduated from Woodstock Community High School in 1960. He worked at Woodstock Die Cast from the early ‘60s until 1985 when he retired. At the time of his retirement, he was president of UAW Local 922. After his retirement, he moved to Nevada where he lived with his second wife, Jan Hahn. He later moved to Panguitch, Utah, and finally to Medford. He spent his last years doing the things he loved most, including camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and

Gordon Patrick Bauer, 63, Wonder Lake, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry.  He was born May 3, 1950, in East St. Louis to Urban and Dorothy (Jones) Bauer.  On Dec. 27, 1980, he married Ellen Krueger at Saint Stephen Lutheran Church in Antioch. He was raised in Ringwood and later moved to Round Lake Park where he raised his family. He moved to Iron River, Mich., where he lived  for many years before moving back to Wonder Lake. He was employed with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office from 1979 until 1997 and then with the Prairie Grove Police Department until retiring in 2011. LaVerne D. Young, 71, Woodstock, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock.  He was born Jan. 17, 1943, to Earl and Genevieve (Filip) Young in Woodstock.  A lifelong resident, he graduated from Woodstock High School in 1961 and was a member of the celebrated North Suburban champion football team. On July 22, 1967, he married Edwina Gawlik in Chicago, and he would often say she was the catch of his life. He served in the Navy in Vietnam, and later he was a pay technician at the Great Lakes Naval base, accumulating 20 years of military service. He also worked for UPS for 20 years. Harriet Wilson, 91, Wonder Lake, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, with her daughter at her side. She was born Sept. 20, 1922, to Henry and Annie May (Foster) Moreton in Darlaston, S. Staffordshire, England. On June 2, 1945, she married Stan Wilson in Darlaston.     She served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service in World War II from 1940 to 1945. She was one of the first women trained on the then-new radar detection system. While stationed on the southeast coast of England, she met her future husband, a Canadian army officer. After she was demobbed from the ATS, she came to the United States on a Canadian War Bride ship in 1946. She and her husband moved to Chicago

Jose Isabel Flores Diaz, 74, Woodstock, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Centegra Hospital- Woodstock. He was born July 28, 1939, to Ignacio Flores Jaimes and Aurora (Diaz) De Flores, in El Despoblado, Mexico.  He immigrated to the United States in 1978 and brought his family to the U.S. two years later. He worked as an equipment assembler for Mathews Farm Equipment, retiring in 2004. He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Martha Lagarde Flores; two sons, Marco Flores and Victor (Rosario) Flores; a daughter, Monica Flores; two grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters. Quinn G. Gieseke, 31, Woodstock, died March 30, 2014.  He was born Sept. 24, 1982, to Jerry and Christine (Freise) Gieseke in Belvidere. He had a lawn care business during high school. Following his graduation in 2001 from Marengo Community High School, he worked for Bell Land Improvement. His true loves were being at Deerpass Farms and driving his truck on many trips around the country.  Survivors include his parents; three brothers, Brett (Sarah) Gieseke, Ryan (Rhonda) Gieseke and Jeremy (Kasey) Gieseke; a sister, Autumn (Marc) Bechler; 10 nieces and nephews, Ethan, Hayden, Avery, Addison, Ella, Madelyn, Michael, Gabby, Colton and Gracie; and many aunts and uncles. Irene F. Gorski,  93, Wonder Lake, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock.  She was born March 5, 1921, to John and Anna (Meiger) Vondra, in Chicago.   On Sept. 28, 1940, she married Ted Gorski in Chicago.  They moved to Wonder Lake on Sunset Drive in 1977. She loved spending time at home with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was an avid bowler, an excellent cook and enjoyed playing cards with her friends from the Woodstock and Wonder Lake area. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Russell Edward Pemble, 57, Woodstock, died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock. He was born Jan. 24, 1957, to Howard and Jean (Kratunis) Pemble in Waukegan.  On May 18, 1976, he married Karen Duley in Woodstock. He was known to always be available to help, always putting the needs of others before his own. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and he loved golfing and fishing. Mabel Harwood, 95, Woodstock, died Friday, March  28, 2014, at a Corona, Calif., hospice. She was born April 21, 1918, to Charles and Dora Garrison in Little Rock, Ark. On Jan. 8, 1940, she married Albert E. Harwood in Dubuque, Iowa.  Gardening was a lifelong passion and she enjoyed canning the fruits of her gardening. She also enjoyed camping and fishing with her family. She was a member of  Grace Lutheran Church, volunteering at the church in the kitchen, food pantry and sewing circle. Eugene L. ‘Geno’ Schuler, 68, Harvard, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry. He was born Sept. 27, 1945, to Frank M. and Marie E. (Papenbrok) Schuler Jr. in Elmhurst. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years, and most recently, he worked for the Hebron School District doing maintenance. He also worked as an umpire for the Fox Valley Umpire Association. He enjoyed all sports, especially golf. He was an avid Jeopardy fan and was known as a walking encyclopedia. He was an active leader and loved helping all kids.
