Marie E. Schuler, 94

Marie E. Schuler, age 94, passed away Sept. 17, 2020, in Woodstock, Ill. She was born on July 20, 1926, in Addison, Ill., to Louis Charles and Mary (Oestman) Papenbrok. She married the late Frank Schuler on April, 28, 1945. Marie was married to Frank for 59 wonderful years. She enjoyed helping him around their family farm, mowing and gardening. She loved knitting making sweaters, blankets, and Afghans for her family. She loved spending time with her family. She will be missed by her loving family.  She is survived by her son, Thomas Schuler Sr., and daughter, Eileen (Larry) Guthrie; grandchildren, Tom Schuler Jr., Donna (Chris) Gibbons, Danny (Tonya) Schuler, and Eugene (Margarite) Schuler; great-grandchildren, Leanna, Emily, Tyler, Raevyn, Daniel,

Phyllis J. Habeck, 87

Phyllis J. Habeck, born Jan. 16, 1933, passed away recently. Born in LaCrosse, Wis., she grew up there and in Wausau, Wis., where she graduated from high school. While attending UW-Stevens Point, she met Roy Habeck, whom she married on Aug. 29, 1953. Shortly after marriage, 20-year-old Phyllis began teaching at Hancock, Wis., Elementary School. The couple moved to Adams, Wis., from 1957 to 1960. Part of that time, Phyllis served as an elementary school principal. After moving to New Glarus, Wis., in 1960, Phyllis taught grade school and junior high classes, as well as special education students, until 1968. Robert W. Thurow, 84

Born: Jan. 13, 1936 Died: Sept. 9, 2020 Robert “Bob” Thurow died peacefully at home on Sept. 9, 2020, after an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Woodstock, Bob was born in the Thurow family home on Wheeler Street to Gladys (Mann) and Walter Thurow on Jan. 13, 1936. On Feb. 16, 1991, he married Sherry Robison Floro, who remained ever supportive by his side during this difficult time. A graduate of Woodstock High School and Lawrence College, Appleton, Wis., Bob served in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, Washington state. After returning to Woodstock, Bob eventually took the helm of T&K Tool and Manufacturing, which had been established by his father in 1944. While working full time, Bob furthered

Bruce Christian Randolph, 81

Bruce Christian Randolph, age 81, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020, at Hearthstone Manor Memory Care in Woodstock.  He was born on June 24, 1939, to Cecil and Lois (née, Christian) Randolph. Bruce attended Adventist schools in his native northern California.  He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967, primarily stationed in Jackson, Miss.  On a trip to visit friends in Chicago in April, 1971, Bruce met Ila Schneider, thus ending his solo travels. They married in Chicago in November 1971 and moved to Woodstock in 1976.  He retired from the Bureau of Employment Security, state of Illinois, in 1999.  Bruce enjoyed traveling, but his greatest pleasure was in the planning.  Before the internet and Google,

June Pauline (Busch) Peterson, 92

June Pauline (Busch) Peterson, 92, of Woodstock, passed away on Sept. 2, 2020, at her home. She was born on June 3, 1928, in a farm house on Alden Road in Alden, Ill. She was the only child of Amos and Orillia Busch (Reese). Upon graduation from Walworth High School, June attended Milwaukee Business Institute in Milwaukee, Wis. June would work at both Starline Corp. in Harvard and also at a bank in Rockford. Her love, however, was farm life. While working in Rockford, she met Chester Peterson, a farmer in Woodstock. They became married in 1953, and she would become a homemaker and mother of four children: Ronald (Linda) Peterson, Byron, Linda (Steve) Winkelman, and Duane Peterson. After the children

Mary Kay McDonough McKay, 68

Mary Kay was born in Chicago March 9, 1952, to Norbert S. McDonough and Rose Detzner McDonough, and grew up in a lively household in Mount Prospect, Ill.. She died at her home in North Aurora on Aug.4, 2020. She is survived by her son, Chris B. (Samantha) McKay, of Chicago, and seven brothers and sisters: Susan (Robert) McDonough Crowson, Robert (Mary) McDonough, James (Constance) McDonough, Patrick (Susan) McDonough, Rosemary (Sam) McDonough Taffs Fugazzatto, Mary Eileen (Frank) McDonough Trager, John (Jill) McDonough; and 22 nieces and nephews. Ms. McKay graduated from Northern Illinois University and University of Illinois Medical Center, and was a licensed social worker and occupational therapist, working mostly in the northwest suburbs. Norma Jane Schlottman, 84

Norma Jane Schlottman of Woodstock, Ill., passed away at her home the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Norma was born on Dec. 10, 1935, in Belvedere, Ill., to Henry and Mildred (Shepherd) Boettcher. She married Richard Schlottman in September of 1954 and shortly thereafter moved to Woodstock, where they raised their family. During her life she held multiple jobs but was most known for selling Avon door to door, working at Hornsby’s, and providing her seamstress skills for many of her friends. The hobbies she really enjoyed were playing cards, fishing, baking, and spending time with her family and friends. Norma is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard (Dick) Schlottman;

Timothy W. Gumprecht, 61

Timothy W. Gumprecht, age 61, of Belvidere, passed away July 18, 2020, at his home. He was born on Dec. 18, 1958, in Belvidere, the son of William and Louis (Bungard) Gumprecht. Tim served in the United States Air Force for almost 10 years. He was an over-the-road truck driver for many years and recently employed as a security guard by Securitas Security. Tim’s passion in life was fishing, photography, and watching movies. Tim loved attending family functions and his great-nephew’s sporting and school event activities. He was a very loving and kindhearted brother, uncle, and great-uncle and will truly be missed. He is survived by his brother, James Gumprecht; and sister, JoAnne Gumprecht; nephews, a niece, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

Elaine R. Passfield, 92

Elaine R. Passfield née Krich, age 92, of Woodstock, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020. Elaine was born on June 6, 1928, in Crystal Lake to George and Violet (Thomfohrda) Krich. She grew up on her parents’ dairy farm where she worked the fields, drove a tractor, milked the cows, tended to the animals, etc. She truly understood the value of a hard day’s work. On Feb. 22, 1958, she was united in marriage with Melvin Passfield in Woodstock. Together, they lived in Woodstock until Melvin retired. After Melvin’s retirement, they lived in Ozark, Mo., for several years before returning to Woodstock to settle down. Elaine was a lover of all kinds of animals, and she cherished her two

Richard Bruce (R.B.) McCallister, 73

Richard Bruce (R.B.) McCallister was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on Nov. 8, 1946, to Richard Basil and Mary Louise (Newman) McCallister. He passed away on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020. An accomplished Eagle Scout and recipient of the Boy Scout’s Order of the Arrow commendation, he lived by the Boy Scout principles. His sense of adventure was piqued at an early age when he and two other scouts undertook a long trek down the Ohio River … in a canoe! A harrowing feat on a major waterway. In his teens, a move from McDermott, Ohio, to Satellite Beach, Fla., introduced Bruce to the world of the space coast life and surfing. There, he became a secret document carrier for the space
