Anne E. Harding

Anne E. Harding, 72, Woodstock, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 16, 1940, in Chicago, to Robert B. and Margery (Garvy) Emery. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Woodstock and served as a Deacon and on the Outreach Commission.  She ministered to newcomers and members unable to attend church.   She also was a very active volunteer in the community, working with the Home of the Sparrow, the Woodstock Food Pantry, Gavers Community Cancer Foundation and the Memorial Hospital for McHenry County Auxiliary.  She founded and for many years owned and operated the Blossom Shop of Lake Geneva and Woodstock. Alan Robert Swanson

Alan Robert Swanson, 90, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 25, 1922, in Woodstock to Earnest and Edith (Miller) Swanson.   On Dec. 18, 1954, he married Gladys Henrys in Woodstock. He was a member of the Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church.  He was a dairy farmer in Woodstock and was a member of the Woodstock Progressive Milk Producers Association, serving on the board for more than 41 years.   He also was a member of the Farm Bureau, the Ridgefield Grange and the Woodstock Moose Lodge.   He was a 4-H leader and an honorary lifetime member of the McHenry County Fair Board.  He served the community as

Alfredo Antonio Trevino

Alfredo Antonio “Tony” Trevino, 51, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, in Tijuana, Mexico. He was born Oct. 2, 1961, in San Antonio, Texas, to Alfredo and Monica Trevino.  He moved to Woodstock when he was 5 years old. He then moved to Crystal Lake and was a 1979 graduate of Crystal Lake High School. He was Chicago Bears fan. Survivors include his first wife, Betty N. Trevino; a son, Juan A. Trevino, Wonder Lake; his second wife, Estela Trevino, Harvard; two daughters, Venancia Trevino,  Freeport, and Joselina Trevino,  Harvard; two sisters, Maria A. Janice Morgan

Janice Morgan, 72, Woodstock, formerly of Marengo, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock.  She was born Jan. 2, 1940, in Rockford to Ray and Annabelle (Fisher) Brown.  On Dec. 19, 1999, she married Joseph Morgan in Elgin. She worked at Arnold Engineering and Florence Nursing Home in Marengo.  She enjoyed reading and shopping.  Survivors include her husband, Woodstock; two sons, Robert Eschbach, Marengo,  and Michael (Lynn) Eschbach, Ohio; two granddaughters, Nikki and Jackie Eschbach, Ohio; and a brother, Harold Brown.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Dan Eschbach.  Visitation was Oct. 9, at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, Marengo.  The funeral was Oct. 10 at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.marengo-unionfuneralhome.com.

Leonel Q. Cruz

Leonel Q. Cruz, 27, Woodstock, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012. He was born March 11, 1985, in Woodstock, to Guillermo and Gloria (Quintero) Cruz. Survivors include his parents; his brothers and sisters, Filimon Cruz, Sonia Cruz, Marisol Cruz, Guillermo Cruz Jr., Yesenia Cruz and Sergio Cruz; nieces and nephews, Molly Hanson, Sofia Melligan Cruz, Jasmine Macias, Mireyah Macias, Leonardo Cruz, Marisol Cruz, Xavier Cruz and Esmeralda Cruz; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jose and Angelita Quintero; his paternal grandparents, Jose and Manuela Cruz; a brother, Arturo Cruz; and three uncles, Juvencio Cruz, Hermilo Cruz and Nicolas Quintero. Robbie L. Carter, 91, Woodstock, formerly of Arlington Heights, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Florence Nursing Home, Marengo. She was born March 2, 1921, in Brownfield to Charles and Effie (Waters) Trovillion. On March 26, 1939, she married Gerald Carter in Crown Point, Ind. She moved to Chicago and worked for Montgomery Ward until her family became her priority. She lived in Arlington Heights from 1948 until 1981. She was a stay-at-home mom and loved to bake and cook for her family. She was active in the Homemakers Club, where she served as secretary. Barbara J. Schmidt

Barbara J. Schmidt, 78, Woodstock, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Valley Hi Nursing Home, Woodstock. She was born Oct. 12, 1933, in Chicago to Theodore and Ivy (Hardin) Henker. On May 23, 1953, she married James Schmidt in Palatine. She was a homemaker and loved to paint, cook, knit, scrapbook, sew, garden and read. Virginia M. Laux

Virginia M. Laux, 93, Woodstock, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock. She was born Nov. 6, 1918, in Chicago. Survivors include a son, Daniel (Christine) Laux; five nephews, Tim, Joe, Greg, Glen and Paul; two nieces, Alana and Sue; and a cousin, Jim. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents; twin brothers; a sister; a niece; and a nephew. Service and interment will be privately arranged by Windridge Funeral Home, Cary.

Edward C. O’Leary

Edward C. O’Leary, 81, Woodstock, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Golden Years Nursing Home in Walworth, Wis. He was born Nov. 4, 1930,  in Woodstock to Daniel and Mary (Kanaly) O’Leary. On June 14, 1952, he married Jeanette Skinner in Tampa, Fla. He served with the United States Air Force and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was an owner/partner in O’Leary Construction Company for many years. He enjoyed working with construction equipment and helping and visiting friends and family. His family would like to thank the dedicated staff and nurses at Golden Years Nursing Home for the excellent care he received. Survivors include two brothers, Leonard (Charlene) O’Leary and James (Betty) O’Leary; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Frederic C. Carr

Frederic C. “Rick” Carr, Woodstock, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, following a  battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born June 1, 1943, in Trenton, N.J., to Frederic and Elizabeth (McCarty) Carr.  He married Susan Siok in October of 1998. Upon graduation from Marian University with a Bachelor of Science in economics, he spent five years in the military during the Vietnam conflict and served three tours of duty in Vietnam.  He worked for Rockwell International, Pillsbury Company, Levi Strauss & Company, United Brands LLC and Siebe PLC.  He was an avid golfer and closely followed the Packers, St. Louis Cardinals, and New York “Football” Giants.
